I will say however, I have purchased three different sets of these and so far, this has been the best quality pair.

Superman/ Batman Series 6 Despero Action Figure Review

(More customer reviews)The Superman/Batman Despero action figure from (series 6) is a good collector's item for those fans of this Alien conquer of worlds. The design faithfully reproduces the art of Ethan Van Sciver from the Superman/Batman comic arc Superman/Batman, Vol. 5: Enemies Among Us. This particular design for Despero, who is one of the Justice Leagues' oldest enemies, is very reminiscent of his modern age appearances such as:
Keith Giffen's run on "Justice League America" (specifically issues #38-42)Justice League America - Issue Number 39 - June 1990
Geoff Johns' JLA/JSA: Virtue and Vice (which is THE reason that this rendition is part of my collection)
Kurt Busiek's Trinity Vol. 1 Trinity Vol. 2 (Trinity (DC Comics)) Trinity Vol. 3
The figure is decently hefty due to Despero's hulking mass. It stand 8" in height, has 9 points of articulation, and a very clean paint application which enhance the figure's appearance greatly(from the gold colored third eye to the various magentas used to give Despero's features definition). There is also a great amount of detail present on this figure from the dorsal fin crowning his head to the texture on his skin on his feet. Due to Despero's hunched shoulders and limited number of joints, the number of poses that are available are quite few.
The figure is an excellent display piece and will make fans of those who love the vicious monstrous version of Despero are sure to be very happy.

Marvel Minimates Max Galactus Resin Figure Review

(More customer reviews)The Minimates line is a fun little figure set from Marvel. This is the first in their line of Minimates Max statues, and it's a great character to start the line off with! This Galactus stands about 8 inches tall and is seriously heavy. Unlike the other Minimates figures, you can't adjust his arms or legs, but the pose they have him in is good. He is scaled to the other Minimates figures like Silver Surfer, so it can make some great setups if you like to pull your figures out of the box to display them.
His feet are solid enough to keep him standing, but keep in mind those "wings" sticking out of his helmet are the most fragile parts of this statue. If you knock him over or drop him, they'll almost certainly break. The statue stands up without a problem, but he can be tipped over rather easily, so watch where you display him.
I'm looking forward to the next character in this series! I hope it's the Watcher so we can have the complete Galactus/Fantastic Four showdown setup.

Shazam 13" Deluxe Collector Figure Review

(More customer reviews)If you own other 13" DC Direct deluxe figures then you'll have some idea of what you're getting with Captain Marvel, however, I feel it is one of the best along with Aquaman. Unlike DCD's Aquaman, who is somewhat restricted in movement by his outfit, the Captain Marvel figure moves very smoothly and freely, creating the opportunity for great poses. All the joints are sturdy without being stiff and thankfully are not loose. The figure has cut joint hands to be used with the supplied swappable hands but I have decided not to use the extra "bendy" hands as I have read elsewhere people have experienced chipped paint just removing them from the packaging.
The initial head sculpt shown by DC Direct was scrapped after much fan protest, the new head walks the fine line between stoic and friendly, without being constipated and goofy. While the sculpt doesn't show a smile per say, it does look as though he's confidently smirking; the picture shown on this site is the scrapped head so don't let that dissuade you from buying. The neck joint allows for a wide range of movement including an upward, flying pose. The paint application is slight but well done with a clear distinction shown between the hair line and forehead. The fist hands also have some nice veins giving the appearance of strength and a tight grip.
The costume allows for great movement and includes the chest button flap from the original design of the character, a must for true Captain Marvel fans. And while I would have preferred the original sash over the belt DCD used, it's not a deal breaker. The cape looks fantastic and I think you'll like the material DCD used. It does, however, pull at the neck a bit and will appear as though it's strangling the good captain. A great touch is the knotted rope flourishes down the cape's left side. Fans of the SHAZAM! TV show from the 70's will recall those flourishes were interpreted as a kind of flower print, as the comics did as well; this original interpretation is far superior and appreciated.
Captain Marvel comes with the typical DCD display stand that isn't as good as Sideshow's, but it serves its purpose. The figure includes a character in lieu of an accessory but it's a great one; one of comics' most original villains, Mr. Mind. Fans of Captain Marvel will appreciate the attention to detail on getting the classic, golden age version exactly; right down to his radio voice box.
As a life long fan of Captain Marvel I highly recommend this figure as the only Cap figure to own. Compared to the various 6" figures of Captain Marvel, DC Direct's Deluxe 13" version is a stand out.

(More customer reviews)I've become a big fan of Heroscape over the past few years, and I'm consistently impressed by the quality of the product, as well as the creative new additions to the line. Heroscape is billed as a "Build and Battle" game system - it consists of many kinds of interlocking plastic tiles of varying sizes representing different kinds of terrain. Figures representing heroes and squads from different eras and different genres (sci-fi, fantasy, horror, action movies, etc.) do battle on this terrain in a game that is both extremely fun and very easy to learn (and get sucked into). Heroscape: Marvel is the latest additon to this ever-expanding miniatures game, and is a worthy addition at that.
Heroscape: Marvel includes everything you'll need to play a Heroscape game right out of the box: terrain (representing grass, asphault, and concrete), a two-story ruin, dice, numerous kinds of markers, 10 Marvel Comics pre-painted figures (very nicely done and very sturdy), and 10 game cards outlining what powers each figure has. The game is also accompanied by an illustrated full-color, detailed and easy-to-learn rulebook. The 10 playable characters in the game are: Spider-Man, Captain America, Silver Surfer, Iron Man, The Hulk, Thanos, Red Skull, Venom, Dr. Doom, and The Abomination.
As an avid Heroscape player, I have to say that this is one of the most ingenious expansions of the game thus far - adding in the Marvel characters will add a whole new dimension to the game - although, beware: the included figures look exceptionally powerful. This game is completely integrated into the pre-existing Heroscape format, so if you already have Heroscape sets, you'll be able to bring this set in seemlessly. If you're completely new to the game, this is a perfect place to start. You'll be amazed by the quality and the hours of fun that Heroscape will bring to people of all ages. Highly recommended; designed for children 8 and up.

The two greatest superheroes forming one villian was a great idea and my son loves to pick this out of the "hundreds" of toys that he has--I didn't know what to put for "educational value"--He learned that two halves make a whole and when you combine things the possibilities are endless--(Imagination-wise it is a "10")!! The toy arrived quickly and packaged safely so the box was not dented if we were a "collector" and not a "player"---But we ripped ours out of the box the second it came in and have been playing with it ever since--Thank You!

(More customer reviews)I tried to keep it in the packaging...I lasted about a day before I carefully excised Mikey from his plastic box. The level of detail on these figures is amazing. His nunchucks have real chains! You can put this guy into almost any pose you can think of. The look is really cool with the red masks for everyone, not just Raph. Mike's chucks even tuck away neatly in his belt between shell and plastron, which I had trouble doing with the old playmates figures. If I had any complaint with the figure it would be that some of the parts feel like they're glued on poorly. (the pads and plastron)

(More customer reviews)I got this power ring stand and it looks great. The plastic dome is sturdy pretty scratch resistant. My only problem with it is that it doesn't light up as advertised. I put in fresh batteries, (it comes with batteries but after they didn't work I used new energizers), hit the switch and got nothing, no light!! I am having trouble returning it for a replacement and may be stuck with a broken ring stand.
