Munchkin Bites 2 Pants Macabre Review

Munchkin Bites 2 Pants Macabre

I have played many of the Munchkin series games and own several. The "Munchkin Bites!" set are well balanced and fun play overall, but the Powers mechanic confuses new players. The expansion "Pants Macabre" continues the excellent jokes and silliness of the set with more wandering monsters, monster augmenting or deflating, "dead" items -Parrot (see the Monty Python Parrot sketch), friend, batteries-, some new bats and adds the "Mummy" race. No knockout additions but a good strong suppliment. If you have Bites!, you definately want the Pants!

Munchkin is about beating up monsters, taking their stuff, and sequels. Munchkin Bites! is no different. Thus were born . . . the Pants Macabre. The World of Dorkness has been busy. Can you face the sonic stylings of Ten Inch Tacks, the annoyance of the Gnat Bats, and the chilling waddle of the Were-Penguin? Will you wield the might of Power Piercing with the Huge Dice Pool, or will you be bludgeoned by Bad Fiction? And do you dare play the new Race . . . the Mummy? In addition to the always awesome art from John Kovalic, we have two guest artists: Pete Abrams of Sluggy Freelance and Maritza Campos of College Roommates from Hell. The jokes can be blamed on Steve Jackson. It's got 110 shiny new . . . no, not shiny, dark! It's got 110 dark and evil new cards, plus two blanks to create your own. And of course, like all other Munchkin releases, this supplement is completely compatible with the original Munchkin and all its supplements and spinoffs. Of course, since Pants Macabre has powers, it will work especially well with Super Munchkin.

I *LOVE* the munchkin card games and own almost every set. This, however, is my least favorite. It does not strike me as as funny as several of the other sets (like they were trying to stretch a little far), and definitly not as funny as they could be considering the number of Japanese and samurai flicks out there to make fun of. Deifnitly worth buying for the Munchkin enthusiast, but I would recommend Star Munchkin or the regular Munchkin as a better alternative for newcomers to the game.

"More mooks, more mayhem, more monsters, more monks0 more Munchkin Fu. 110 evil and overpowered cards, plus two blanks to create your own. Learn new styles like Kong Fu, Fee Fi Fo Fu, Sna Fu, and the ever-perilous Stomach Fu. Pick up dangerous new weapons like the Auspicious Ivory Gutting Hook and the Tofu Tonfa. Garb yourself in the Hong Kong Sarong. Slay foes like the Sex Gaki, Clamera, and Genghis Cong... and take their stuff. This is an Expansion for Munchkin Fu. It is compatible with the original Munchkin and all its supplements and spinoffs, including Star Munchkin, Munchkin Bites, and Munchkin Blender. It is not a stand-alone game. Use it wisely, grasshopper."

I just learned and played this card game at a weekend gaming convention yesterday. I liked it so much that here I am buying it the next day. It's quick to learn, quick to play, and appeals to a wide age range.

This is a very good game!!!! I recommend it!!! if u r into movies and having a great time with family and friends!! this is a must!!!!!!

Click Here to see more reviews about: Hollywood Shuffle

This Hollywood Shuffle Board Game exploits movie cliches for hilariously creative fun. The dice roller turns over cards that reveal the key plot elements (the lead character, the central action, the twist); then other players must write down either the title, cast, or ending depending on what space the dice roller has landed on. The previous dice roller reads the answers out loud and hilarity ensues!
Can you be more ridiculous than Hollywood? Or who knows, maybe you'll even stumble on a blockbuster! Choose a cast, a title and add your own ending to more than 200,000 hilarious movie plot combinations. Just flip the cards for an hour of action/adventure, gripping drama, outrageous comedy, and feel-good family fun wrapped into one great Game Night. There are no right or wrong answers. My friends and I have played the various versions of Munchkin and we like M.Bites the best. It just depends on if you are more into the vampire/werewolf theme or the pirate theme or etc.
We do remove the mummy class out of the expansion set because it's powers are so much more than the others that it unbalances the game.

A Game of Thrones: The Card Game Review

A Game of Thrones: The Card Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
What this is: a CCG-type fantasy strategy game with some board-game-ish components to give a nice tactile feel to things. The goal: to accumulate 15 Power tokens (representing political clout) before any other player. Plays 2-6.
This game is beautiful; let's start with that declaration. The core set includes 4 pre-made decks for the Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, and Baratheon Houses; six grey plastic moulded pieces that represent various courtly positions like Crown Regent, Hand of the King, Master of Coin, etc.; really pretty Gold Dragon coins and blue Power pieces; and a very nice, durable board for the coins and power pieces that centers the field of play nicely.
Onto the gameplay: there are three different types of attacks or "challenges" that can occur - military, intrigue, and power (aka political). Each character is marked as able to participate in some (generally, not all) types of challenges, meaning that deploying a character that can handle Intrigue on a field full of Military and Power characters can lead to a broadening advantage.
Different types of Challenges yield different results: successful military challenges let you kill off the defending player's characters, intrigues force the defending player to discard random cards from hand, and power challenges let you poach Power points from your foe. Intrigues are probably the least direct in achieving victory - holding the lead in in-play characters gives you Power points late in the turn, and Power challenges directly grab them for your side - making Intrigues sort of the "Dishonor"/bad guys strategy.
Finally, a very neat gimmick is the Plot Deck - reminiscent of the old Middle Earth CCG's long-events, i.e. cards that linger from the start of one turn to the start of the next, then are discarded, but produce some game-changing effects temporarily that can be really nice. These cards are actively chosen from a special, small deck, meaning you can pair a short-term strategy with your long-term goals. Plot Cards also have "claim" - this affects how much oomph successful Challenges have, and can make a huge difference if you pull off more than one Challenge in a single turn.
All in all, this is an excellent game with solid components, clear and helpful rules and rulebook, and a fascinating strategy that builds on such CCG classics as Magic, Battle Tech, Middle Earth, and Guardians (tangentially, anyway). It executes its design with a very strong flavor all its own, and its mechanics are distinctive. A very worthwhile purchase!

My husband and I love Munchkin and were excited to see that there are a variety of themed sets available. I am a big fan of H.P. Lovecraft, so Munchkin Cthulhu was right up my alley. The game is just as fun as the original while including several fun new rules. I love the cultist class and enjoy the green die that came with the set. This is a great game for 3-6 people, though you can play with just two people but it's not as enjoyable. The cards are colorful and the illustrations are wonderful. The game is easy to learn and easy to teach to others. Games usually last about 30 minutes to an hour depending on the cards drawn, but you can play a longer game by downloading the free "Epic" level rules from the Munchkin website. The 3 other Cthulhu Munchkin sets add a lot of fun to the game, but it's a good time just with this set. And as usual this set can be mixed with other Munchkin sets for more craziness!
The only thing that would make the game better is if several green 10-sided dice were included in the set (for use in keeping track of your level). All in all, a wonderful purchase!

Warhammer Invasion Core Set Review

Warhammer Invasion Core Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love the Warhammer universe and I am always leery of third party treatments, BUT Fantasy Fight Games has out done themselves with this game. All of the little details from the characters to events, have found their way into this game.
The game play itself is fun and easy to learn, and very difficult to master, but that is part of what makes this game great. The game breaks down into a siege battle between two opposing forces, each having a city to defend while building a force to sack the enemy, the twist is the drastically different playable races. No two races play the same, in fact the differences are so drastic it can be difficult to move from one to another without doing a little preemptive card reading.
The core game is all that is needed to play, unlike collectible card games which rely on spending absence amounts of money to secure the one ultra-rare card. By taking the focus off the collecting aspect, and providing all the card up front, the game becomes a study in strategy and is far more rewarding. There are expansions released regularly that add more card options and races, which to base one's deck on, and again adding more depth of play.
The other boon for a game like this, is the price, the core game is $40, while the expansions are only $10, continually making the game fresh and increasing playability. If you're looking for a new card game that provides a rich fantasy world to in which to play, and don't want to spend copious amounts of money on booster boxes, this is a fine choice and well worth the money.

Munchkin Impossible Review

Munchkin Impossible
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've played many of the Munchkin games and own several. The mechanics are the same for all: start as a generic level 1 human and advance to level 10 by defeating monsters, selling goods and special bonuses. Draw from the door pile - if it's a monster - fight, ask for help (or get the monster augmented or weakend by other players) and /or run away. If it is a trap, resolve it. If it is something else it goes to your hand. Collect treasure cards from defeated monsters or trading or helping other players, and use the bonuses to help defeat the next monsters. Backstab your friends frequently, steal their stuff and cheat, sometimes with both hands!
Impossible sees the Munchkins in the super spy world of Bond, The Saint, The Prisoner and Austin Powers. The basic set has a good balance of monsters to provide challenge, augmentation and deflation cards for fights, good stuff and fun abilities in loyalties and classes. Play can change from impeding victory to defeat as you go from unstoppable superspy to all out Spy-vs-Spy, or have another player pull an underhanded sneaky spy move to suddenly pull ahead or make you lose levels.
Of all the Munchkin series I have enjoyed the Original, Bites! and Impossible the most for overall game balance and smart, funny card names, functions and joke references. This one should generate some really fun suppliments.

The Munchkins are now spies . . . eliminating the opposition, playing with self-destructing gadgets, and changing loyalties even faster than they change hats. Be a Playboy, Tourist, or Assassin. Report to the Americans, Russians, British, or Chinese (it'll change!). Wield gadgets from the subtle Cigarette Dart Gun to the amazingly unsubtle Bazooka with Incendiary Ammo. Eliminate foes, from the pathetic Defective Defector, through the Interro-Gator and the Not So Secret Police, up to the mighty Super Spy himself. And (all together now) . . . Take Their Stuff! You can play Munchkin Impossible by itself, or combine it with any number of other Munchkin games for more shameless silliness.

It's crazy how much fun you can have with this game. It's great for people of all ages and there are no wrong or wright answers. It all depends on what the judge thinks is the best card thrown down. So you could think you have the card that matches the play card the best and the judge could decide to go with something totaly opposite because it's bizzare and really funny. It's an overall great game to play with the family or at a party, it will have everyone laughing.

It has fewer rules than any other card game I've run into of its nature, such as Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, and Yu-Gi-Oh, and it is much easier to pick up. The game is never the same two times in a row, and it is very amusing to play. The artwork on the cards is simply stunning. I do recommend this game for those that enjoy card games and those that love roleplaying games all at once, for it is both rolled into one!

The Sewer rules in this expansion were disappointing. The real value here is the additional tiles it gives you. There are six Subway tiles (Complete with new Subway travel rules), more intersections and named bulidings, plus a whole lot of event cards. You will need the Main game to utilize this set. Although it is not as good as Expansion 2, (Zombie Corps(e)) 3, (Mall Walkers), or 4 (School's Out) it still holds it's own. One of the GREAT things about this expansion is that the tiles are mixed in with the city tiles, and DO NOT Need to be kept in a separate stack. I like that a lot! The lost star is for the sewer rules. I feel they could have done better. All in All Thumbs up!

This game has been popular in my home in the English version. But now that I'm a brand new Spanish teacher, I was thrilled when I found out it came in Spanish, too! It's great for days when the students are wound up just before a holiday break. They can take a break from the stress of academics, have some fun, and still be using Spanish. This game is nothing more than a bunch of nouns and a bunch of adjectives. Everyone gets 5-7 noun cards, then someone puts down an adjective card. Each player has to pick a noun card out of their hand that they think would most likely be described by the adjective card. The "judge" for that round gets to pick the noun card he or she thinks is the closest and the winner gets to keep the adjective card as a way of counting points. Because even my fellow Spanish teachers and I didn't know every word written in the Spanish edition, I went through and divided all the cards into two piles, words my students wouldn't know yet and words they know or should know. I teach second year Spanish and they were really surprised at how much they could figure out. I divided the class into groups of about 5 or 6 and each group got a stack of cards. Because of a delayed start and an assembly, we only had about 20 minutes at the most for each class, so this was a fun way to spend time in class using Spanish.
