(More customer reviews)I'm a Yahtzee fan. I always have been. I rarely lose, even though Yahtzee itself is still something of a chance game. I have the special Collectors Edition of Yahtzee, all the way down to the version that fits on the back of an enlarged pen.
Yahtzee Texas Hold'em got me STARTED in Texas Hold'em. I played the card version AFTER starting with the Yahtzee version.
For those serious about gambling in smoke-filled rooms with cash involved, you won't enjoy the twist on this game. This game is for families or close friends who are just looking for something different to do. It plays very easily and hey - it offers one thing that cards can't - five of a kind!
The only downside I can give to this game is that it doesn't play well for two people. The original Yahtzee was finite - it ended when you ran out of spaces on your score card - a limited number of turns. Being that Texas Hold'em has no limited number of turns, there's no real competition with just two people. If one person starts running up a bet, the other just folds - round is over. This gets boring very quickly.
The highlight of my wife and I playing together was our cat going beserk over the poker chips - that entertained us long after the game couldn't anymore.
I recommend this to any family who enjoys gaming together, or any group of people who get together regularly for entertainment and would like something silly and different.
Yahtzee is a timeless classic, and I look forward to whatever they have next.

There's a new shake on the popular Texas Hold 'Em game, with Yahtzee Texas Hold 'Em. To keep with the Yahtzee tradition, dice replace cards and a Yahtzee hand wins the pot. Each player keeps their two dice hidden under the cup and place bets after community dice are revealed. Once all five community dice are laid out, final bets are made and players' dice are revealed. The winner is the player with the highest total consisting of a pair, two pair, three pair, five of a kind, straight, etc.

(More customer reviews)This is a great one to break out when there are kids in the mix, when you want something that isn't too thinky, or when you just want something quick and light in between other heavier games. The "press your luck" component is a lot of fun, even when you "crap out". One of the rare occasions in real life saying "D'oh!" like Homer Simpson actually works.
You can be set up, have the rules under your belt, and underway in two or three minutes, and then the game lasts between 10 and 20 minutes usually (in our two-player games). The bits are sturdy plastic in bright colors, very pleasing.
If your kids like Yahtzee (or if you do), this is a good fun cousin to add to your collection.
Amazon's description of gameplay is quite good, though I will just clarify one thing: on any given turn, you are trying for up to three different dice results. So on one turn, you may go for 2's, 6's, and 7's. On your next turn, maybe you'd try for 5's, 7's, and 10's.

This Sid Sackson classic was actually released in the United States, but it never did well enough commercially to stay in print for more than a couple of years. The idea is quite simple. There is a board with all the possible results of two six-sided dice: two through twelve. The object of the game is to move a little marker to the top of three columns by rolling that result, but you need many more sevens than you need twelves, based on the likelihood of each result. During your turn, you roll the dice and place temporary markers onto the board. You can continue moving these markers until either none of your dice match (your turn is over and all progress you've made is gone), or cut your losses and end your turn (placing a permanent marker in your rows). Nice light filler for opening or closing a session.

Withing only three (3) days of use, more than half of the images on the dice have faded away. Some of them to the point where it is completely unrecognizable as to what it's supposed to be! It's a shame that we will soon have to replace the dice with a standard set.

(More customer reviews)First of all, I must let you know that this is not a board game. It is more a dice game, also includes cards, but no playing board.
I've only played this once. As I read through the instructions I thought it sounded like a lot of fun. It is an interesting game of trying to win the cards that you need, either from the center stacks or from your opponents. I like the fact that even though someone can try to take one of your cards, you can defend that card with the roll of your dice. So you have some power over whether someone wins one of your hard earned cards. But trying to win the pieces you needed seemed to come too easily for the way the game sounded in the instructions, and the one game I played was over very quickly. However, that was with only 2 people playing. It may be more fun if you get more players. Or maybe I missed something in the rules.
The cards are all nicely designed, nice graphics, and good images to easily identify what you need to roll to win each card. It seems like there is a lot of possible strategy, and there are many cards with many different meanings that you may use to help protect your cards, more easily win cards, or use against another player. And for as complex as the card possibilities seemed, the rules fit on one page!
So I can't rule the game out yet. I just need to find someone, or a group of people willing to try it with me.

Players are knights competing to build castles in the kingdom. But building castles is not the only way to win. There are actually three ways to win: build four castles with different banners, build three different castles and topple the king, or build two different castles and win three tournaments. Players also have the opportunity to acquire special abilities. Players acquire the special abilities, build the castles, and win the tournaments by throwing six dice three times to beat the dice combination on cards that represent the castles, tournaments, and special abilities. Players may also attempt to capture cards from other players and may acquire special cards to protect their cards from capture. (More customer reviews)This is one of the games my friends and I played to death. It is very fun and simple, yet having some mathematical skills on probabilities doesn't hurt. The purpose of the game is to fill your score sheet as much as possible by making the different combinations required. The more you do the higher the score, and multiple yahtzee's (five of a kind) scores you bonuses. There are different editions of this game but this one is the best. Here is why:
REDESIGNED: This edition of Yahtzee comes with a felt-lined cup and tray. Remember how loud it is to use the plastic cup in the original edition? Well now it's very quiet and the tray keeps the dice from going everywhere. The dice are over size which is a nice touch. It also has a dice keeper where you can place the dice you will not re-roll.
PLAYING MATERIALS: The folio comes with a score pad and an engraved pencil. But it also has room to store more pencils and pads. You can even store a Triple Yahtzee pad if you have any. Triple Yahtzee is kind of a Yahtzee Advanced that isn't sold anymore although you can still find the scoring pads and instructions on the net (which is all you need).
PORTABLE: You can drag this game anywhere. And since you can play solo it's great to take to your doctor's appointment. That is if you don't mind people asking where you got that cool Yahtzee game. It's perfect for travel and the zippered case is very nice and durable.
Overall the game is great and this folio edition is a must buy for any Yahtzee fan. By the way I saw someone once roll three yahtzees in a row and finish with ten yahtzees in a six round game. I know you can do better... if you try. Have Fun!

Although luck has something to do with Yahtzee, skill and cunning also play an important part. Also, Yahtzee can be as competitive as you'd LIKE it to be (ante up!). It also is a game that will inspire very warm and wonderful memories. I will always remember my two late uncles' weekly Yahtzee nights. They were very close brothers but, in adulthood, the constraints of family and responsibilities did not allow them to spend much time together alone...until they established their weekly Yahtzee night! They would play for hours on end to the sounds of the dice shaking and spilling, the mild cussing, the laughter and smiles! I carry it with me wherever I go and, inevitably, a routine visit becomes a Yahtzee PARTY! New friends, laughter and fun...how can you beat a combination like that (unless it's a five-of-a-kind YAHTZEE)!!!!!

It was hard to get the dice out, so we use a different cup and plan on using the baseball cup when we go somewhere. It is small and durable and even the score cards and small pencil can fit in the cup for easy storage.

At a party, it's easy to run out and it's easy to neglect stocking up on enough pads. You get a generous number of sheets (80) and can score up to 6 times on each one, but Yahtzee is so much fun, you always can use more. Don't let yourself run out; if you're a constant player like I am, you can never have enough. A fine accessory for playing Yahtzee.

This game requires more math skills and it really makes you think because you have a lot more options, for example there are two 3 and 4 of a kinds, and three Yahtzee's to name a few. There is a lot more to the game but I will let you have the fun of learning it. We play the old Yahtzee when we are too tired to think and Power Yahtzee when we want a challenge. My daughter is 15 and she really likes it, and it's tough to get her approval.

I hate it, the buttons are very mushy, it's much larger and takes a little bit longer to display the result of your roll. I'm so glad I found this version for purchase.

It provides the same challenge and fun of Yahtzee, but the new spin on collecting points and stealing points from your opponents is really fun. We will probably always play this now instead of the regular yahtzee. My youngest got bored waiting for his turn, but it was the same with the regular yahtzee when we played with 5 players. Each person's turn really doesn't take more time than the original version of Yahtzee. Provides very clever use of strategy.
