TRANSFORMER Starscream - G1 Review

(More customer reviews)My son is really into the G1 Transformers and Starscream is one of his favorites. It's hard finding the classic looking Starscream, so I was excited to find it here on Amazon. Similar to the classic model, but the only drawback is that the wings don't fit firmly into the body of the jet. It's almost that the pegs on the wings are a bit too long and leave too much of a gap making it look odd in jet mode. Other than that, it's still a great toy to have.

It comes with not only the chrome gun (which you never saw in the series) but the sword AND the small plastic pellets which you can shoot out of the gun. The American version never had these features, and although it is not little kid friendly, it is well worth it for the collector. Also, can you say DIE CAST METAL!

I'm glad to see this wasn't just a reprint of the original game like so many other monopoly games. They actually incorporated some new rules. They do add another dimension of play without taking away from the things that make monopoly popular. It will be worth the money if you are in to transformers.

(More customer reviews)Monopoly Gi Joe Special Edition is a very good edition of Monopoly. This is perfect for any Gi Joe fan and the creators of this game really did a good job with it. The 6 tokens are wonderful my favorite is Cobra Commander's helmet. I like how the board is set up with Gi Joe and Cobra characters on every deed. The cards are written special for this edition, and they have pictures on them from the classic show. I'm very pleased with this game and I don't see how a Gi Joe fan could go wrong with buying this.

Hasbro Transformers Risk Game Review

(More customer reviews)If you're a fan of RISK and you're interested in a new variation of the game, then this version is for you. Like other themed RISK games there are new aspects to the game, like using leaders with attacking/defending advatages and a time limit to play, but this version also incorporates some unique aspects of the Transformers to make things really interesting. Of course, the Cybertronian leaders of your armies can transform, giving them different abilites depending on their mode, but my favorite thing about this version is that the game board itself changes form. Certain zones move according to your playing of cards, and you can use this to your advantage to reveal hidden areas, create new armies, destroy enemy forces, or block off/open access to other zones. The game play is pretty quick, with only 6 days to conquer Cybertron and needing only one card to play a card (instead of three matching ones in standard RISK), but of course you can vary the rules and play a longer version of the game. My main complaint is that the rules are a little vague in some instances, making battle with and loss of leaders confusing sometimes. The board is unique, but a little bland in that the thick borders of the zones block much of the detail of the well-drawn planet in the background. The armies all use the same figures, with one Decepticon force using an unfortunate purple color. The leaders available for the four different armies are Megatron, Prime, Bumblebee, and Blockade.

Transformers Chess Set Review

(More customer reviews)This is a great item for a Transformer's fan, but defiantly not for someone who intends to use this to actually play chess. Each piece has the symbol of the chess piece it represents, but it does become a bit of a hassle to constantly check which piece is what short of memorizing which transformer represents each piece.
The pieces are a sort of soft plastic material, and the whole set has a smell of spray paint. Again, great collectors item, but not recommended for those who wish to play chess with this chess set.

Robot Heroes Wave 02: Bumblebee Vs. Soundwave Review

(More customer reviews)I've bought the Bumblebee and Soundwave pack because they were the transformers i liked most when i was a kid.
These figures DO NOT TRANSFORM, and you must have that in mind if you buy them for a kid.
However, they are poseable and you can twist their arms and their heads around. They are very stable and they will keep standing up in almost any position; they also seem to be made of some kind of rubber.
The main reason why i like these little robots is that they look exactly like the cartoons. Not like the transformers G1 toys. Instead, they look chunky, cartoonish and fun. Bumblebee has a smirk on his face just like he did on the animated series. Soundwave seems to be pointing at himself like asking "Who, me ?". They seem to be having a lot of fun and i've just blue-tacked them to the top of my computer monitor as an ornament. I will probably get all the other figures.

Transformers Energon Super Optimus Prime Review

(More customer reviews)I love how most of the reviews on this guy are from people who say, "I'll save my money for (insert whatever they think is better)". They never bought it; they never gave it a chance. I bought this toy as soon as I saw it in the store and I never regretted it.
This Prime is very poseable, has lots of action features and loads of play value. Well worth the money. If you are a parent of a TF loving child, he/she will love E-Optimus. He's even backwards compatible with the Armada Minicons. Also, now that the show has debuted on Cartoon Network, kids are sure to want him (it has revived my nephew's long waning interest in Transformers).
If you are a TF collector (like myself), the toy does look strange for a Prime. His proportions are off for what fans are used to, but that is not a big deal once you lay your hands on him. And as for the "HUR HUR, Fatimus looks like a Power Ranger Zord" comments, there have been combiner bots around since way before Power Rangers, and none of them are as cool as Energon Prime.
So, go out and get this guy.
Kids will get a kick out of the versatility of E-Prime. He's a very solid, well-designed toy that will give them hours upon hours of play.
If you are a collector, give him a try. The worst thing that could happen is that like many a discerning Transfan, you end up actually *gasp* liking him. :)

Transformers TakaraTomy Japanese Classics Figure Voyager D-01 Megatron Review

(More customer reviews)There are many aspects about Takara that makes them exceptional over Hasbro. One of them is the care and attention to detail. Almost never do you see Hasbro adding shiny chrome pieces to their figures on the first release. With Takara that sort of thing's standard issue. A HUGE plus is that with Takara figures there are NO frustrating twist ties keeping the figure firmly imprisoned in his plastic cage. Now onto Megatron himself;
While some might view the transformation of this guy as a bit hard it really is very intuitive, even on the second try. If needed a quick glance at the instructions (though in Japanese) will set you on your way. The color scheme is very much in keeping with G1 Megatron, not like the ever curious white/purple/neon green of Hasbro. The articulation is top notch, this Megatron has a world and half of possible poses in him. His fusion cannon is almost perfectly sized for his arm. Any who own or have even seen the Masterpiece Megatron know how an obscenely large gun can shave off good points. There have been gripes about the wings on this particular figure, but I honestly don't care. They're part of the transformation, they don't get in the way all that much, and in some poses they actually look pretty cool.
And yes the design for his gun mode was loosely based off of some Nerf gun. Fine whatever, he's supposed to be a space-like gun anyway. His head by the way is nicely G1-esk, with some very good red light piping. I have a small issue with his fist on his cannon arm. When pointing his cannon his fist is sideways in a weird way. It bothers me a little up close but unless you're really REALLY looking it over you can't tell. He doesn't fall apart easily all of his joints snap in and out of place solidly.
Final Conclusion: You really can't go wrong with this figure. My advice is to pass on the Hasbro classics Megatron and go for Takara's. Don't worry about the price. When I bought mine is was about forty-three dollars and that's completely worth it.

Takara will modify the paint schemes on all the Japanese Classics figures.They are introducing completely different paint on Megatron and Astrotrain, and the other figures all will have chrome added along with slightly different designs to their paint scheme. The fabled warlord Megatron has now finally been reinstated, abandoning the Walther for the new boisterous anti-proton pulse gun mode. In robot mode, Megatron retains a semblance of his Gen 1 look. The massive gun scope converts into his underslung arm-mounted cannon. In the early days Megatron surreptitiously stockpiled power and leverage while he combed through the underground gladiator games and recruited his first warriors; during this time Megatron upgraded himself to outr?? capacity. Megatrona?TMs Classics profile portrays him in dark reverence, describing him as a conquest-driven engine of destruction and creating the impression that his anti-proton pulse cannon mode is a more autonomous assault weapon than the Walther version.

Transformers Reveltech - 046 Starscream Review

(More customer reviews)I just reviewed my Revoltech 046 Starscream in the mail recently and I can say I'm rather pleased with the product. It's got a really nice level of detail to it and the ability to pose him about (quite arrogantly looking) is a fun feature most TF toys don't have, at least nowhere near this range of it. I defiantly wouldn't buy this figure for a child and from what I can tell it won't stand up to heavy play. However it is perfectly durable enough to stand multiple posing sessions and the exchanging of the hands. The figure is only about five inches tall so don't be surprised when you get it and its on the tiny side.
All in all a great addition to a more adults collection who loved the classic G1 Starscream

Transformers Autobot Jazz - Target Exclusive Review

(More customer reviews)This is probably, outside of the upcoming G1-Style Optimus Prime repaint, the best of the G1 repaints. Jazz looks close enough to his original form that the new paint applications look pretty smooth. While silver is classy, the white with blue and red racing stripes is a lot more noticeable, and that's what Jazz is all about. Transforms like a dream, though one has to be careful when transforming his torso - the front grill is part of his "automorph" gimmick, so trying to hold onto it while transforming him isn't the greatest of ideas.
The one thing this toy lacks is quality in the paint used. I've noticed a number of the movie-based Transformers toys use a type of paint that flecks off easily, and that's really a shame, since some of those details just can't be repainted. Still, it's a worthwhile purchase, especially for close-to-retail prices (seriously, the stores are sold OUT). Fun for kids, adult fans of the movie, and fans who wished the designs were more... "classic."

(More customer reviews)The Deluxe Class Scorponok is simply the SHARPEST looking (at least in my opinion) figure to hit the shelves in this series -- though Barricade with his "To Punish and Enslave" motto runs a close second in my collection. While he can be combined and "carried into battle" by the Voyager Class Blackout for the younger Transformer Movie fan set, together they make a great desk display (just ask the guys I work with)! True, there is not much of a transformation from scorpion to robot-mode, but the attention to detail and his spinning claws quickly overcame that fact. Can't wait for 7.4.7!
