(More customer reviews)This sword is awesome and worth the $. It looks real, and it feels real in your hand. Even though the blade is composite/plastic, it looks like shining steel until you look closely and see that the edge is not sharp. Turn it on, and the blue glow appears to emanate from deep within the sword. The glow is completely even so it doesn't just look like someone put a light bulb inside a piece of plastic. The blade is reasonably durable, and the harder you hit things, the more "clanging" sound you'll hear. It actually sounds like what you image a sword might. A note of caution - and this should be expected; the instructions do warn you about hitting other hard items. I haven't been willing to experiment too much in this regard, but thus far I have not damaged the blade.
Overall a great novelty. If you're considering it for a kid who loves to sword or lightsabre fight, I'd look elsewhere as I'm sure it will not stand up to this treatment... Unless they appreciate LOTR enough to recognize it's "value".

This electronic replica of Frodo's Sting sword emits an eerie bluish glow whenever Orcs are nearby. This authentic Sting sword replica was cast from molds used to create the original movie prop used in Lord of the Rings trilogy. Crafted in the ancient Elven tradition, the Sting sword blade has a brushed metal finish with a trans-reflective silver coating that looks like metal when it is not activated. The core of the permanently attached polycarbonate blade glows brightly when activated with the flick of a switch. The die-cast metal handle has a wood-grain pattern and silver leaf filigree accents, reminiscent of third age Elfish decoration. The sliding switch on the handle toggles among 3 modes: "OFF," "ON," and "ORC." If the switch is in the "ON" position, the Sting sword emits clash and clang sounds when struck. In "ORC" mode the Sting sword hums and glows blue as a warning that Orcs are in the vicinity. Frodo's Sting sword is replicated in the exact "Hobbit" proportions as the original prop.

Lord Of The Rings Tarot Deck & Game Review

I am a 'new' Tolkien fan. After seeing the Lord of the Rings movie and loving it.. I decided I had to read the books. The characters / story just fascinates me. I also enjoy the Tarot quite a bit - so when I remembered that there was a Lord of the Rings Tarot - I got excited... Until I read the reviews. OUCH!
I am not in any way saying the reviews are wrong. From what I understand, there are a lot of "technical differences"... and ALOT of questioning of why certain people / things were chosen for the cards they depict. I understand and agree with most of this... which is why it took me a long time before I broke down and purchased the deck...
I realized the reason I like the deck is because I am approaching it differently. 1. I like the artwork. Some of the pictures are quite intuitive to me - irrespective of the story. 2. I find the sentences on the cards helpful in remembering some of the aspects of the card meaning. 3. I like seeing the characters I enjoy on the cards - It helps me relate better to the deck as a whole.
While I realize there is a lot wrong with this deck, personally, I find that if I approach it loosely, it can be fun and I can get a lot out of it. I find that I just enjoy using cards that remind me of a story I love - I read the cards as they make me feel when I look at them - and I don't take the rest of it too seriously.
This deck may or may not be for you. Take all of the reviews / information into consideration, look at the cards yourself, and then make your own decision.

(More customer reviews)This game's excellent. It's EZ & fun & gripping but it's quite long! I don't mind this but some others might.
This game simulates the 17-year period between Bilbo's 111th b-day & Gandalf "taking" Frodo out of the Shire...
This game is supposedly for 5 players but can be enjoyed with only 2 - which I have!
One player plays Sauron & it's minions & the other(s) play hero/es gathered by Gandalf to stop him from finding the Ring before Gandalf does (& thusly the Lord of the Rings actually begins).
The Sauron player actively blocks the questing heroes with his plots & perils & monsters. If Sauron's plots come to fruition (with a great mechanic) the War of the Ring doesn't even start because he found it!
If the hero/es win, concluding the quests, blocking Sauron's plots & schemes, then, all the events in the book can proceed to it's fateful conclusion - Middle-earth is saved!
Seems like a hefty price for a game but, believe me, it is worth it, even just for the quality on the whole. The rules are beautifully laid (concise & awful good to read), the art is superb, the craftmanship of the game is excellent; however, about the highly detailed figures - there was one faulty batch (too brittle) - however, no worries, as Fantasy flight Games (the manufacturers) will replace them for free!
I wholeheartly recommend it for most all fans & non fans, ages from 10 onwards!

(More customer reviews)There are TWO editions of Lord of the Rings: Risk. The latest version is called "Lord of the Rings: Risk - Trilogy Edition." It features a full map of middle earth, including Gondor and Mordor, as well as new missions, strongholds, etc.
Though this is a great game for any LOTR and Risk fan, don't fall victim to this lowball marketing ploy. Both editions were the exact same price when I saw them recently at a toystore - and boy did I kick myself for not waiting on the full version!
