(More customer reviews)Bid-It! is really a wonderful game. It's a bidding and bluffing game in the same class as Liar's Dice, Bluff, or Perudo, though all of those use dice and Bid-It uses cards.
On the surface, the premise is simple (the same premise as Liar's Dice) - you bid on how many of a card appear not in your hand but in all hands put together (of course you see only your own cards). Each player must make a higher bid than the last player until someone doesn't dare to, and challenges the last bid. If the bid was too high, the bidder loses a card, otherwise the challenger loses one.
It's in the little details that Bid-It really shines. For example, there is a special bid called "Perfecto" that means you think the last bidder had it exactly right - and if you are correct then the bidder loses a card. If the bid was either high or low, though, you lose a card.
Another nice touch is the "taking sides" rule. If you have more than 2 players, then players other than the bidder and challenger have to secretly select which of those two they think will prevail. Players taking sides lose a card if they pick wrong. This is a nice touch in that all playes participate in every round.
Another really nice thing is that the publisher thoughtfully provided both "basic" and "advanced" rules which give younger kids an easier game to play while retaining the spirit of the full game.
Finally, the cards are really nice. As one who knows something about printing, I can tell you that the manufacturer took the trouble and expense to use metallic silver ink on the cards for the stars (use to denote a "wild card") - this little touch adds alot of visual appeal and shows that they care about their product. The metal tin is also very nice and really takes advatage of the reflective metal to be part of the design.
This game also won a Games Magazine "Games 100" award this year.
In short, a beautiful game beautifully produced for under ten bucks.

Bid-ItBid It! is the bidding game where your hand doesn't really matter, as long as you know how to bid it. Bid however many of a given number appear on the cards held by all players together. For instance, a bid of "four 5s" means the bidder believes that there are at least four fives being held by all players as a group. The next player must either make a higher bid or challenge the previous bid. Once a bid is challenged, the cards are revealed. If the bid was too high, the bidder loses a card. If not, the challenger loses a card. Players try to figure out each others' hands by their bids -- but remember, bluffing is not only legal, it's sometimes quite effective (unless you get challenged!) If you're very sure that your opponent's bid was too high, why not bid double and put the loss of 2 cards on the line? Of course, the bidder may turn the tables on you and re-double. Or if you think that your opponent's bid was exactly right, take a chance and bid "Perfecto!" Includes 110 cards and instructions in a colorful metal tin. For 2-4 players.
