(More customer reviews)I purchased this puzzle as a gift to myself in August 2009. I have been doing jigsaw puzzles since my childhood and I am now in my 30's. After putting together countless 1000 piece and 3-D puzzles, I felt that I had already had my "fill" of puzzles; my puzzle days were long gone and a part of my past (or so I thought). Then I spotted this eye-catching "Skylines of The World 18000 Piece Puzzle" on Amazon.com. I didn't purchase it right away. I spent months wondering whether or not I possessed that ever necessary staying power and fortitude to take on such a monumental task. Then one day I decided to stop wondering; I needed to attempt this 18000 piece puzzle. It had now become a matter of "now or never" and I HAD to do it!

I received this puzzle 6 days after ordering it. The puzzle is packaged in 4 separate bags, each bag containing 4560 pieces. At first glance, the amount of puzzle pieces was overwhelming for me; I had never put together a puzzle even remotely close in magnitude. In spite of those nagging feelings of discouragement, the notion that "maybe I can actually do this" helped keep me on track and superseded any feelings of doubt. And so the construction process began...

Each quadrant of this beautiful puzzle brought me to that sought-after level of challenge and beyond. Some quadrants are more agonizing than others, but the entire process of putting this puzzle together was still fabulous and unforgettable. Very difficult to express the feelings of joy and ecstasy after completing the first 4560 pieces, and then the next, and then the next... Feelings I was not at all prepared to deal with. Akin to that amusement park thrill ride where you just can't seem to get enough; where you're on a high and you simply have to keep going!

I highly recommend "Skylines of The World" to all puzzle aficionados out there who may also be thinking that they too have had their fill of this ageless pastime (or for those who are just serious puzzle extremists!). This deliciously insane puzzle will inevitably soak up hours and hours of your time and challenge your tenacity. But most importantly, your love for this brilliant hobby will be renewed in the most marvelous and satisfying way!

The completion of this lovely puzzle was the best way to bring in the first week of 2010! I began constructing this puzzle on August 18, 2009. I completed it on January 8, 2010. I will soon be mounting this stunning piece of art to display on my living room wall. It will represent a true milestone in my life, and it will serve as a reminder that anything is possible.

World's Largest Crossword Puzzle Review

(More customer reviews)I just finished the World's Largest Crossword Puzzle last night. It's been one heck of a project--approximately equivalent to 200 slightly oversized daily crossword puzzles. I'm going to love hanging the puzzle on my wall--it really is something to behold when it's all done. But it's also a big undertaking that requires a great deal of patience and perserverance.
The puzzle itself is moderately difficult, but made more so by the fact that somewhere during the revision (it's been re-done once) or perhaps during the original construction some errors were made. Because of this, many of the clues don't match the answers. Add to that the fact that the author uses many hundreds, possibly even thousands, of abbreviations that are specific to a certain field (e.g. "Abbreviation used in electrical engineering") that no lay person ever has a chance of knowing, and you've got what can be an exercise in frustration. You can work for hours on one small section and only later find out that the clue doesn't fit the answer. I'm generally pretty dogged in completing crosswords until letter perfect, but that's not possible here. So I had to sacrifice a bit of my honor and force myself to give up after a couple of passes through the ups and downs. Still, it's about 98+ percent solvable, which is pretty good when you consider how intricate the puzzle is and how hard it must have been to create.
Overall, I enjoyed the process and am pleased with the result. If you've got the time and energy, I highly recommend this.

(More customer reviews)This puzzle is beautiful -- the picture is very romantic and being a horse lover and married to a chivalrous husband, it just suits us perfectly. I ordered this and got it within about 10 days, but it worked out perfectly as a Father's Day gift. Many puzzles over 3000 pieces are city-scapes and other art that are not appealing to us, but this one is beautiful.
The quality of puzzle from this company is fantastic. The pieces are thicker and sturdy and the edges snap together very well. This is our second large puzzle by EDUCA, and we have been VERY pleased with the quality of their products. They live up to their reputation. The printing is very good quality also, not fuzzy or "dotty" like cheap puzzles.
My husband did a 5000 piece Educa puzzle a few years back and we glued, framed it, and hung it in our entryway. It looks so perfect from even a few feet away that most people are shocked to find out it's a puzzle and not a 5' x 4' painting! Only when they get really close can they see that it is a puzzle -- that is how good the printing and piece matching is with this brand of puzzles!!
The best feature of EDUCA puzzles is that for serious puzzlers, if you lose a piece or one is missing from the box, you can order that exact piece from the manufacturer for a very reasonable price. When you spend this much time putting something this tedious together, only to have your heart sink when you discover a piece is gone (or the cat chewed it up) it's good to know all is not lost -- replacement pieces are at your fingertips!
Highly recommend these puzzles -- well worth the price. When I shopped for this, as usual, Amazon.com had the best price because of free shipping. Thanks Amazon!

(More customer reviews)It seems like jigsaw puzzles are a dying breed these days, but I still enjoy them from time to time. This panoramic puzzle was huge -- I had difficulty finding a table in my house that could fit it, so make sure you check that before buying.
Otherwise, this was alot of fun. There were a few familiar brands in the puzzle -- V8, Sprite, Gatorade -- but most were things I'd never seen before.
What I really liked about this puzzle, and the reason I bought it, was that it's easy and fun to create the cans. There aren't any real "black spots" where every piece just looks exactly the same and you're randomly trying them until you get something that fits... most any piece can be looked at. Even the wooden shelves vary slightly in color and the grain of the wood so that you have some help in lining things up.
If you can manage to finish the puzzle without losing any pieces (we didn't), it comes up with glue so that you can basically turn it into a picture and keep it forever. This wasn't something we tried, but I thought it was a nice touch that I haven't seen in a puzzle before.

It is very, very difficult since the puzzle pieces shapes are very similar. I spent months getting 60% done and gave up. My husband is glad to have the dining room table back. This is not for a child.

Life, The Greatest 24000 pcs Puzzle Review

My wife and I have done many large jigsaw puzzles over the years but this one was the most memorable. The puzzle measures 428cm x 157cm (4.28m x 1.57m) or 168.5in x 61.8in (14' .5" x 5' 1.8"). It comes in 4 separate bags of 6000 pieces each. We assembled it one section at a time but you can mix all the sections together if you want to. We received the puzzle in early May and started construction on Mother's Day (May 13th, 2007) and finished it on June 16th, 2007. It took us 34 days!! Working primarily after work and weekends, it took us approx 400 man hours to complete. That's 200 hours for each of us. According to the www.worldslargestpuzzle.com website we were the first to complete it. I highly recommend attempting this puzzle if you feel you are up to it. (More customer reviews)I bought this puzzle last Christmas for my wife and daughter to work on together. Little did I know that it would be completed and finally off the table in our family room 11 months later!
This is most certainly an expert level puzzle, and requires the most patience of any puzzle I have seen to this point. Shades of gray and hundreds of solid black pieces add to the difficulty in addition to the obvious large number of pieces.
My only complaint would be that the pieces are not as durable as I would expect given the price tag for this product. The edges of some pieces frayed a bit during the time it was put together. This is slightly disappointing since I intend to frame and hang the finished product.
This puzzle provided many hours of family entertainment and based on that it was worth every penny!

Ravensburger Tropical Impressions - 18000 Piece Puzzle Review

(More customer reviews)This is a beautiful puzzle -- four tropical scenes that can be taken apart or put together to form one gigantic puzzle. The colors are not your typical, bright "primary" tropical colors; they're olives and deep reds and slate blues. Very pretty. As has been the case with other Ravensburger products we've bought, this is top-notch. Their puzzles seem better constructed than others -- really built to last. The pieces are thicker and more durable, and the quality of the workmanship, overall, is just excellent. The price on Amazon.com through dianastoystore.com was really good, too -- less than $100. I bought this puzzle as a Christmas present for the family. Neither my husband, son, nor I have been graced with very much patience. But with an 18,000 piece puzzle -- I think we're going to have to learn some patience. I know it's going to take us a long time to put this together, and there's no question this is going to be a challenge. But once it's together, I imagine we'll have some good memories of the the time during which we worked on it. I can't wait to get it all together and mounted -- it's going to be a lovely piece for our living room. I would love to hear from other people who have put together the puzzle -- to see what their experiences were like.
