(More customer reviews)I purchased this Lego set for my 9 year old son. He had looked at it prior to Christmas, saw the price and said "I can only dream of getting something like that!". It was well worth every penny spent just to see his face when he opened it! Although it is recommended for 16 and up, at 9 he was able to put it together without only a little help from his older brother (age 19) and it was finished in about 6 hours total. I would recommend this for any young boy who loves Legos!

LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler Review

(More customer reviews)I just received this set for Christmas from my brother. Since I'm a big fan of LEGO's and Star Wars, I was very happy to receive this set.
This set has a huge part selection (1669 pieces) and takes about five or six hours to complete. This set includes several Jawa minifigs and is currently the only set that has the Jawa's. It also has several different droids and Uncle Owen but no Luke. Of course, pretty much every other Classic Star Wars LEGO set has Luke so no big loss there. This set also has hundreds of the unique technic link treads which are very hard to find.
Overall, this is a pretty good set. You can remove the workshop from the body of the Sandcrawler so you can access the various droids. It also has a hatch for the Jawa driver and a ramp that lowers so you can remove the crane section. However, there is a lot of wasted space in the set. I would have thought LEGO would have been able to use more of the dead space in the vehicle because it's essentially a big castle set on wheels. Also, while I really like the unique track design and steering mechanism, it doesn't roll that well on carpet.
Despite the few drawbacks and expensive price, this is a pretty solid set and looks very similar to the Sandcrawler in Episode IV. If you're a Star Wars fan, you will like this set. It's a must-have for your Tatooine layout.

However, it is fragile, and a bit wobbly. It is more for display than for play. It looks so great on a table, however, that any star wars fan would love to have it in his or her house.

(More customer reviews)This combination package is quite wonderful in the sense that it comes with two kits in one box. My kids love Legos, especially the SW sets. This kit takes quite a few hours for the kids to build, but they enjoy the building process. The kits are quite detailed once put together. Sturdiness is an issue particularly the mechanism where the walker attaches to the dropship. We do not glue our kits generally so pieces will come apart but definitely easily snapped back into place. Once both kits are assembled, it is a rather large set. The scale of the ships are also both quite nice. We are happy with the purchase.

There's a few LEGO models I own which stand out. The Milenium Falcon, the Agents mobile command center, the Skeleton chariot model, and this one.
It was a fun build for me ( I should note I am 44, but I am easily amused by LEGOs.) No part was tedious. Once I pre sorted the pieces, it went very smoothly. You do have to be careful, as is common with large models, when moving the model. I did have to rebuild some small sections. The center is the best place to hold it as I recall.
The model looks fantastic. I did not compare it in detail with the version you see in Star Wars, but that did not concern me overmuch. It's close enough.
I assume a younger child might have problems with parts breaking off, but that's pretty common with all LEGO models, especially the larger ones. The model does use technics elements, which give it a strong "spine." The engines and the 4 wings are probably the most vulnerable.
The minifigs, are of course, nice. I know I have some of them from other models. I would think Captain Antilles has not showed up too often. It's a bit more expensive than the 10 cents / piece I like to see, but I thought it was worth owning for it's high cool factor (I am a geek sometimes, I can't help it :)
The parts were pretty standard. I think some of the parts are in colors I have not seen before though.
Here's a big plus...ZERO stickers. Yep. None. That makes me smile - I hate stickers.

(More customer reviews)Lego hits a home run with this mechanized model of the AT-AT you first saw terrorizing the Rebels on Hoth in Episode V of Star Wars. This advanced model (more than 1100 pieces) features a handle on top for easy transport, but the kicker is both its size (over 12" tall and 14" long) and the mechanization. With the addition of 6-AA batteries, this model uses its articulated legs to walk smoothly and "effortlessly", with the head swiveling... just like in the movie!
The disappointment? Not too hard to build. I do have an expectation that these collector sets are more complicated and take more effort to construct.
But it's so cool when it walks!

LEGO Star Wars Death Star (10188) Review

My son loves Lego Star Wars and spends hours and hours entertaining himself with the various sets. He had been dreaming about this Lego set ever since it was presented in the catalog - which he studies regularly.
This is the ULTIMATE Lego Star Wars entertainment weapon of mass satisfaction. Building it took 3 days and occupied every flat surface in our living room / dining room. The best part was that the instructions are set up so that the different rooms / levels are completed one at a time. So we'd build for a while, play for a while, continue building etc. The prison block is very cleverly done. Everyone in the family participated so it was a wonderful shared experience.
Yeah, it's wicked expensive, but I figured it is a once in a life time experience, and this lego set exceeded all expectations. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. Though at a certain point, you have to stop building and sort the pieces by color / type or you will lose your mind trying to find all the pieces.
One small complaint - we couldn't find about 8 - 10 pieces. Perhaps 4 were because we used the wrong pieces at the wrong time (based on pieces left over). But there were a few missing pieces which we had to scrounge from our Lego inventory on hand. But all the critical / unique pieces were all there, and anyone taking on this project should have a certain amount of Lego experience prior to making the attempt.

AMT - Star Wars Star Destroyer Review

(More customer reviews)I recently bought this model from the Toys R Us close to my house. I was excited because the box was pretty big, so I assumed that the model itself would be big.
but...That's not really the case.
The model is a pretty decent size (I think around 19 inches, but I'm not sure). It's about the same size as the standard Ertl Star Trek models. Also, the description says that it has over 75 pieces, which is NOT true.
My biggest complaint is the building process with this model. It seems like they just wanted to boast more pieces, instead of making it more "user friendly". Some of the parts must be glued, then held together for a period of time. And the pieces that you have to hold (or temporarily tape, I suppose) are either long pieces, or really thin pieces.
This model is definately cool, but it really doesn't seem like it's targeted at younger or inexperienced modelers. One big advantage is that it's molded in a a pretty good grey plastic, so younger modelers who don't want to paint it could leave it, and still have it look nice. I also comes with glue, paint and a brush, so that's a nice addition for the aforementioned group.
If you have the patience for it, I'd definately recommend it.

Lego 6210 Star Wars Jabba's Sail Barge Review

(More customer reviews)The Sail Barge was a highly requested set. I was a bit skeptical on how this set would work when I first heard about it. It works...and works well.
What a plethora of minfigs! I thought that the Gammorean Guard had been lost forever. Jabba was a no-brainer but I'm glad to see the Gammorean. Lando's helmet...It's like a thing of beauty. I was expecting a samurai helmet but Lego tricked me and pulled this awesome helmet. Cheers! We also got Slave Leia back! Yay! This was a nice jackpot of figures. It also has R2(With drink server), Luke, Han, and Boba.
Well you probably didn't want to get this for the figures,(or did you?)so how's the barge? One word: Beautiful. The barge is alot longer than what it looks like on the box. The stickers aren't all that bad. Don't hurt me... Well anyway my only two actual complaintes are the Boba Fett launcher and the sails. The Boba Fett launcher, is well, out of place. I don't like it. I took mine off, it's not a necessity anyway. The sails are always in the way when placing figures. It get's annoying. Those are my two complaints. The interior of the barge is quite comfortable and is ,well, just dandy.
The skiff is a MUCH better improvement from the original. The plank is now large enough for a figure to stand on. ou actually pull the plank out this time. It's an ingenious design. The skiff is great and nice little addition.
The sarlaac is rather plain and the figures don't fit in it's mouth. But meh. Im would have bought the set without the sarlaac anyway.
What a great set. It is definately worth $75. Heck, it's worth even more but we get it at this price range. This set is definately on the top 5 greatest star wars sets of all time. Get this as a birthday gift or christmas. I would get this over the new Imperial Star Destroyer anyday. Get this set and be glad you did.

Recreating part of the opening scenes of Star Wars Episode XI: Return of the Jedi, the Jabba's Sail Barge play set lets Star Wars fans young and old lead a daring assault on the cruel Jabba to free Rebel heroes. LEGO Star Wars ARC-170 Starfighter Review

(More customer reviews)This is a great Lego set for kids and collectors alike. The model is very close to the real deal, and has a TECHNIC mechanism that moves the wings and drops small "bombs" from the bottom.
PLAY: Very sturdy for "swooshing" and for attacking evil droid armies. The main wings are solid and are well supported. When using the mechanism to open the x-wings, the wings do have a tendency to move around a bit on their axis. This has the effect of making them non-parallel with the main wings. This only affects the display of the model and doesn't detract from the fun. Clone pilots are well secured inside the model, which opens in two directions to provide easy removal of the troops in case they need to escape. The bomb-release mechanism is interesting and easy to use. I was surprised to find that even with the model's unusual shape, the entire model sits flat when places on a tabletop (with the support wings closed) - no worrying about drooping wings here.
LEARNING: All Lego sets have an advantage over normal toys in that they can be taken apart and built into whatever an imagination can create. These are great for building creative skills.
The only real concern is the relative looseness of the support wings as described above. Additionally, the main wings have large gaps close to the hull where the TECHNIC mechanism for moving the wings pokes through. This hole is larger than it need be, and adding a white plate to the wings here greatly improves the wing stability as well as the overall look of the model. There are also some minor gaps between the hull and cockpit canopies, which can be resolved using flat white 1x4 pieces.
DISPLAY: Looks great on a tabletop or shelf. Surprisingly, its size and fairly good detail allow it to look nice even next to a UCS Tie Fighter or X-Wing.
Great toy with plenty of potential to be rebuilt into some fun models. Can be improved using existing parts to make it a little more structurally sound and closer to the movie model.

LEGO Trade Federation MTT Review

(More customer reviews)I got this toy because I had the old MTT, and I really wanted to expand my battle droid army (this set comes with 20 droids!). The set took several hours to make, and afterward the tips of my fingers were sore. This lego set is very durable, most likely because that's what an MTT should be. The only weak spots are where the doors are. My biggest complaint was that, and I don't know if this happened to anyone else, but I was missing 10 PIECES from the set. I checked the entire room, and I am positive that nothing fell on the floor. Also, it was 10 of the same piece, and I highly doubt that 10 of the same lego piece all fell on the floor.
The missing pieces were brown 2x2x1 slanted pieces. Luckly I did happen to have 10 of them from other boxes of legos, so the problem was easily solved. However, because my pieces were old, the browns don't match up, so It doesn't look as good as it could have.
Great set with 20 droids! But missing many pieces. I still highly suggest it, as long as you have pieces to replace missing ones.

LEGO Star Wars Slave I Review

(More customer reviews)I have been a Lego fan since I was a child. Adulthood took me away from the fun and enjoy of building Lego sets. However, it took these very collectible, yet fun to build, Star Wars Lego sets to bring me back. I have purchased many sets to add to my collection, but I decided to open and build the Slave I.
Quite simply, this is one of the best Lego sets you can buy, build and play with that I have seen in a long time. The instructions are detailed, and the set will take a few hours to build. When you are done, you will have one large Star Wars ship on your hands, and it will include all the details from Boba Fett's unique ship you remember from the movies.
First, Boba Fett's cockpit and wing panels are connected and rotate when you lift his ship. This makes him oriented in his seat in the correct direction, just like in the movie. There are also several moving parts, like doors to hold weapons, doors to hold what ever you want, doors to reveal missiles, guns that rotate, and a rocket launcher that can fire a missile (and it actually shoots a far distance). The nice thing about the missile system is how Lego hid the launch mechanism inside the structure. All you need to do is pull a black lever and the missile will fire. And that black lever is so well integrated into the Lego model, it looks like it is part of the ship.
You also get some Lego characters, including the man himself, Boba Fett, a frozen Han Solo, IG-88, a bounty hunter, Dengar, another bounty hunter, and a Bespin guard.
In terms of the build strength of this set, I found it to be very sturdy. The instructions make it clear what you are doing, and I had no problem with pieces coming apart from earlier steps. Boba Fett's ship is so well built and strong, when I dropped it only one wing panel came off. A word of advice: do not pick it up from the cockpit cover!
Overall, this set is very solid and well constructed. It is very detailed, and surprisingly, it is quite large when you get done building all 537 pieces. This set is well worth the price and will be a fan favorite for years to come.

This toy sells for $10.99 in stores like Walmart and Target. I finally found it in Target (though it was the 6th Target we had looked in). This is a really high price, but if you are desperate I guess it's OK.

Being an experienced Lego builder, I guided him through the building process, which was pretty sophisticated for this level of Lego set. All the other reviews here are correct, this thing is awesome! Plenty of interior detail, including: many hand tools, Han, Leia, C3PO, Snowtrooper, and Chewie (NO R2D2, though!!). The ramp and escape pod are nice, as is the hyper-drive area and gun turret seat and game table areas.
I can tell you how cool it is all day but here are my gripes: First, the architecture and weight of the falcon lends to alot of stress to the area just below the main gun turret, which supports the front and the rear of the ship through two hidden beams in the floor (the roof, escape pod bay and ramp area give no structural support to the falcon). If you plan to display your falcon, no prob, but if you plan to fly it, this can pose a problem. If you have spare Legos from other kits, you will want to consider making a hidden chassis built off the two long beams under the floor beneath the gun turret extending forward and aft to strengthen the falcon (there is room in the floor because of the sandwich style nature of the floor so that no one can see your modification BUT you WILL need to remove some of the black bricks to do this). As a matter of fact, while doing that, I also made the fenced floor piece that comes with the set removeable for the hidden compartment like in the movie (I can fit 3 figures under the floor panel now!!!). The modifications are best done once you assemble the kit first according to instructions then going back to mod. My second gripe is that the hallway that leads to the cockpit from the rest of the ship doesn't exist. Bummer. And the third gripe is that this design forgot to include the lower gun turret/laser cannon underneath the ship, though this is an easy fix with spare parts from other sets you may own.
Even with these shortcomings, the set was WELL worth buying. IT IS EASILY THE BEST STAR WARS LEGO SET RELEASED. My son absolutely loves playing it and I enjoy making mods to the 'ole Falcon, kinda like Han Solo himself did. Hope this review helps you in your quest for your Star Wars Lego collection!

Star Wars collection is will complete without this amazing 985-piece model. A challenging build, this new model features removable triangular pieces and a removable top, so you can see the action inside the Millennium Falcon. Lower the starboard hatch lid and pull out the ramp to board your Star Wars mini-figures. There's even an escape pod on the port hatch where the mini-figures can bolt if there's a sign of danger. To fend off evil intruders, the moveable gun turret will come in handy. It includes Chewbacca, c-3po, Snowtrooper, new Hoth Han solo and princess leia mini figures. It Measures 16.5"L x 12.5"W x 4.5"H.

(More customer reviews)I have a love-hate relationship with huge Lego sets. I love their features and complexity, but I hate their price. This set is one of the more expensive Lego sets, but it is loaded with features. On the other hand, it is a little fragile, even for a Lego. On the plus side, anyone having this set will be the envy of their friends, if they love Star Wars Legos.
Lego recommends this set for children ages 9 to 14. The main reason is that the set contains 1,366 pieces of various sizes, and the assembly steps require two instruction books. Once you have built this immense (nearly two foot long) kit, you have one of the largest Star Wars Lego Sets available.
The bridge opens to reveal controls and a place for two crew members, who are supposed to be Grand Moff Tarkin and an imperial officer. You can remove the bridge and its associated structure from the lower portion of the ship to then be able to open the panels in the ship to reveal the interior of the ship. The bridge portion also includes "lasers," two of which can be launched a very short distance by tapping a button. The only problem with these "lasers" is that they tend to fall out when I tilt the ship forward. The panels that open on the lower portion of the ship mount four turbo lasers that pivot and tilt with a little effort. Two lasers with limited motion are also mounted on these panels.
When you open the ship there is a lot of room available inside the ship. This space includes room for two storm troopers, Darth Vader, two royal guards, R2-D5, and a mouse droid. The interior also has a crane for removing Darth Vader's helmet, a meditation chamber for Vader, a storage location for weapons, an emperor hologram, and an escape pod that can be "launched" through an opening in the lower part of the ship.
The bridge removes reasonably easily, preferably with two hands, and feels solid when removed. The first time I picked up the entire ship I had a couple of pieces that separated, but I attached them more tightly and I have not had a problem since. However, the ship does feel a little fragile and I suspect that I will need to tighten the pieces again after some play time.
The real advantage of this Lego set is its looks. With panels closed and bridge attached this set looks powerful and sinister. Though this set is likely not amenable to being swung about, I can see setting it on a piano bench or short table and having rebel fighters zipping back and forth in an attempt to blast it.
This Star Wars Lego set is the longest set we own, and rivals the Millenium Falcon as the most impressive Star Wars Lego that we have in our collection. Only the Star Wars Legos in the Ultimate Collector Series exceed the complexity and looks of this kit. This set is an excellent addition to the collection of any Star Wars Legos.
