(More customer reviews)The instruction booklet is very detailed and comes in several languages. There are three levels for the models to build and they range from friendly, moderate to greater challenge. My son has made nine of these models.
The rods and connectors snap into one another and are built according to the color-coded instructions. Joel Glickman is the inventor of K'Nex and has an easy to understand format in the directions, plus you do not need to read much to follow the diagrams. This set is ideal for the beginner who is new to this building system. My son was familiar with this from watching commercials.
The pieces have names, rods, connectors, spacers and flexi-rods. The connectors are blue and purple, and nice shades. The instructions are numbered for each step to follow along. The flexi-rods are orange with the spaces being blue and silver.
Scissors, hang glider, lawn mower, spy plane, canoe, cell phone, space shuttle, fly & swatter, clawing crab and the front-end loader.
There are very small round pieces that are dangerous to have around if there are smaller children or pets in the home. This might be best utilized on a table and when not in use place all loose pieces back in case.
My son has spent many hours this past month exploring with these models and making things that are not even listed and tells me all the time how he is using his imagination.
The models are able to stand in an upright position, they can move and bend in positions and they come in various sizes and portable.

Super Structures 50 Model Building Set Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this set as a birthday gift for my son, who's a graduate of 3 smaller K'NEX models. It was delightful for him - the models are big and look great, the learning curve is comfortable enough (as long as you can make your kid build the models in the presented order and not rush ahead to the rotating Space Needle...). There's also an educational value - we went online with Google Earth and flew to see an aqueduct, the pyramids, and so on.
It was great to see him develop as he progresses along the models - his shoulders are getting quite a workout as he has to make rods click into connectors sideways, which takes a nice effort - these are writing muscles as well, which is useful. The most fun was seeing him get creative - his Eiffel Tower Extreme Edition (complete with wheels and motor) is beautiful.
One comment I have is about the fragility of the pieces. It might be related to the way our case was stored and shipped (a lot of things happen to toys on the way to Israel), but we've already broken 4 connectors during the 2 weeks we have the toy - something that's never happened with our previous kits.
In short - highly recommended, a great value and a lot of fun.

(More customer reviews)Since the content is only basic geometry, I thought this set would just be an introductory steppingstone into more sophisticated KNEX sets (e.g., Simple Machines). But even after my 5-year-old raced through all the geometry exercises, she still plays constantly with this set, making all sorts of original shapes, which has extended her sense of geometry. It also gives her lots of fine motor exercise. She even has incorporated her creations with her other toys like blocks and Polly Pockets. There is much more creative potential in this set than I expected, so it has served as an excellent intro to KNEX. I'm looking forward to what my daughter does with the Simple Machines kits.
Also, unlike other similar science kits I have purchased, the KNEX design is extremely durable. The plastic holds up well under lots of unkind twisting and pulling, and it is just as good as it was on the first day.

(More customer reviews)These games are the best I have ever seen, it is hard to believe that kids would go so crazy over a few cards but my girls love them. They are a wonderful Home School aid, my girls play with them even in their free time. The only issue is that they dont have more to choose from. I think I am half way through buying them all. I will buy any more that they put out also. They are so easy and the game is so fast that kids never get bored with them. Brain Box is just wonderful, I cant say enough good about these games. My girls have learned so much just from these games. They are fun to add into normal everyday school time, it makes something boring something fun!!!!

(More customer reviews)The motor is pretty cool, but that's about it. My 6-year-old son was excited to have a K'nex truck, but he couldn't build it himself, so I had to help. The instructions are OK, but not as good as Lego products -- and the "Lego-style" bricks will not stay together for anything, and come apart in the middle of building. When you go to repair the broken section, another part self-destructs. If you do finally get the truck together, you will be attempting to rebuild it within minutes.
Save yourself the frustration and buy your kid something actually made by Lego.

It is very clearly stated in the information in two places that this kit contains a bonus motor, and it does NOT! Do not be fooled by the advertising. If this is worth it to you without the motor, then by all means, purchase it.

(More customer reviews)I gave this set as a birthday gift to my fifteen year old son. It was our first experience with any products from this company. He spent several hours playing with it. He would make different things with it, taking the first creation apart and creating something new. He had lots of fun with this and I would buy another product by this company. My son's only complaint was that their wasn't enough pieces. Nevertheless I felt it was a good value for the money. As a plus it has educational value! It was nice to see him doing something other than watching tv and playing video games. This racing set was a wonderful alternative.
