(More customer reviews)After playing Cranium WOW I have become a fan of the entire Cranium realm of games. The biggest problem with WOW is that you need at least four people to play and my wife and I love to play games with just the two of us. Letter Line-up gives us that opportunity. We played it for over an hour just yesterday.
The game itself reminds me of a part of Cranium Hoopla where you have to get someone to guess a card just by using clues that all start with the same letter. The nice thing about this game is that you get six letters to use for clues, but if you can't get those letters to work, then you can roll the six dice on more time. In some ways this is a disadvantage too, because sometimes you don't get the letters you want on the second roll.
My biggest concern with the game is that there are only sixty-five cards and when you play games as much as my wife and I do, you are bound to remember what cards there are in the deck.
Overall, I highly suggest this game.

Cranium Cosmo Review

(More customer reviews)I LOVE the original Cranium game, so when I saw a new one had come out, I was thrilled. Somehow the fact that it is designed to be an office game completely slipped past me (I realize this is my own stupidity/ignorance; I don't fault Cranium for this!). I got it for Christmas and was surprised at the basic premise of the game. The thing I don't like is that it's not a game you sit down and play (like the original Cranium); in fact, it's really not a game that works well as a family game. HOWEVER, it's not worthless--it's actually really fun to pull out a few game "cards" when people are just sitting around at home, when company's over, to get conversations/arguments started, etc. True, some of the activities are definitely office-oriented (typing with your nose, using office supplies to perform death-defying feats), but many can easily be adapted for outside the office.
The activities are generally very similar to the original game, with one big exception: the blocks. We think they're a great addition! They have letters and words on them, and different activities call for using them to create crosswords or fortune-cookie fortunes; some just call for arranging the blocks in a particular configuration.
If you're not planning to use this game in an office, or if like me you were expecting a more structured party game, don't despair. It really is fun. I do hope they come out with more game packs, though, because I can see how you could easily deplete the supply very quickly.

(More customer reviews)I saw this game advertised as winning a 'Major Fun Award' and you can bet your bottom dollar, this game is major fun. You cannot help but have fun playing Catch 22. As the name suggests, you need to catch 22 chips and exit the game board to win. But, also as the name suggests, you might find yourself in a 'Catch 22' situation. For example, once you win alot of chips, everybody else is going to try and catch you to steal your chips. Or, a player might land on a switch places square and when you thought you were home free, you are forced to switch places with an opponent. The strategy part is that you have 'Blocker Cubes' to try and clear a path for yourself or indeed block an opponents path. But be careful, you only have five cubes and once you use them up, you must land on a square which allows you to collect a blocker cube from the board. This is simply a fantastic game. It is fast moving and heart stopping. I cannot tell you how many times someone was on the verge of winning and in a heart beat, all their chips were stolen. Really, you should definitely try this game, I highly recommend it if you are into having fun.

(More customer reviews)I love pretty much all things cranium so when I came across this I had to get it. I am a singer and think of my self as knowing a good amount of music. I knew most of the songs in this game. The draw back is they aren't very recent songs so unless you have a good music collection that is pre 90s then you may not know them. So it's good for adults and teens with a wide musical palette. Found it easier to do without the use of the Kazoos but they are fun exspecially when you get a player that doesn't know how to use it.

Cranium Wow Game Review

(More customer reviews)When we bought this game, the big question we wanted answered was how different was it from the original? We put off buying it, then when we found it on an inexpensive sale, we figured it was worth the risk.
This game will be appreciated by anyone who enjoys the original Cranium and has exhausted the cards of their first game.
The game is played largely the same way as the original. Up to 4 teams move around the board by successfully completing challenges in 4 categories: Data Head, Star Performer, Word Worm and Creative Cat. The board layout is the same, though it's slightly more decorative this time. If memory of the original serves me correctly, the board is also smaller this time around.
All of the original activities from these 4 categories are present. However, they have also added new activities and changed one of the old activities, slightly.
In Data Head, they've added an activity called "Odd Couple," wherein you choose the two items in a list that don't belong with the others.
In Star Performer, they've added an activity called "Slideshow." In this activity one team member moves the arms and legs of another silent team member as you would a marionette. Think of it as charades with a twist. The goal is obviously to get the other players to guess what the puppeteer is trying to demonstrate with the puppet.
In Word Worm, they've changed "Gnilleps" to be a team game, meaning every player on the team takes alternating turns, adding one letter at a time to spell the word in reverse. They've also added "Mindmeld," a word association game where two or more team mates are each given a topic and have to write down 3 words that immediately come to mind when considering the topic. If any of the words between team mates match, the activity is successfully completed.
Club Cranium activities also still exist, but if I remember the original rules correctly, the way Club Craniums are played is slightly different. However, I could just be mistaken in my recollection of the way they were originally played.
We did find in a few instances that we could not complete some of the activities in a 2 person per team game. For example in Slideshow, the puppeteer was someone from the team that drew the card, but the Marionnete was from a different team so that there would still be someone left on the original team to guess what was happening. We just could not play Club Cranium Slideshow.
I found the Data Head questions were much easier than the first game. All of the other activities remained at relatively the same level of difficulty as before.
The addition of character movers with interchangeable hats and hair was cute, though it does not change anything about game play.
Overall, we enjoyed this as much as the original and like the new activities. If you have the original, you might still want to add this to your game collection, especially if you have exhausted all the cards from your first game like we did and especially at this great price of $15.99 (it retails for almost $30 and I'm not sure if I would pay $30 for a duplicate game). If you do not have a Cranium game yet, I would choose this one instead of the first one simply for the added variety.

Unlike others that focus on your knowledge of the obscure, this game gives you a fun clue... iPod, Madonna, Napoleon Dynamite, and let's you choose the activity that you'll perform to get your teammates to guess. The rub is that the other team gets to rank the activities against different point values. If the clue is Madonna, they might offer you 1 point to hum or 5 points to sculpt with clay.
We played this with friends after a dinner party for 3 hours... By the time we were done, our bodies hurt from hysterical laughing (and a few antics). If you love pop culture or if you love Cranium, this is a fantastic game.

Cranium Hoopla Review

(More customer reviews)My significant other and I just love playing Cranium Hoopla. Each game takes about 20 minutes to 1/2 an hour to play and we rarely stop laughing. Players draw illustrated noun cards that must be acted out, drawn, or cleverly described as indicated by the random roll of the die. Depending on the talents (or lack thereof) of the players, it can be quite a hoot. Unlike most two player games, both individuals are working as a team against the clock. This adds to the fun and quells the arguments that can result from competitive gaming. The only negative aspect is that, like Cranium the board game, you go through the deck of cards pretty quickly making for redundant game play. All in all for the price and fun it's highly recommended (and I'm sure an expansion pack or two will be on their way).
A note of caution: I'd recommend this game for high school players and older. A lot of the subject cards contain items that may be unknown to younger players (e.g., "Sigmund Freud", "Nadia Comaneci", "Radio Flyer", etc.).

Hoopla is the outrageously fun game where every second counts, with two or more players rallying together to beat the clock. There are four categories of question cards: Cloodle (drawing, similar to Pictionary), Tongue-Tied (giving alliteration clues to a single word), Soundstage (charades), and Tweener (giving clues in the form "it's bigger than but smaller than," using two objects that imply the answer). If the players manage to work through the requisite number of cards in fifteen minutes, the game is won by all.
This game takes five minutes to learn and just 20 minutes to play. Includes: 280 Hoopla cards, a countdown timer, a ten-sided Cranium die, and a Hoopla pad and pencil.

(More customer reviews)Wow! I thought the original Cranium was an awesome game! The Turbo edition cranks it up and improves whatever minor flaws were in the original. Turbo edition has all of the best elements of the original, including combining activities from other games such as Pictionary, Charades, Name that Tune, Trivial Pursuit, and others and putting them into one game. Yet the turbo edition ADDS new features, such as a musical timer that will also randomly select a category for the current team, Turbo cards that have more than one activity on them and determine how many spaces your team will move (depending on how many activities you complete), and new categories such as MINDMELD, where team partners write down what comes to mind when given a topic and must match at least one thing; ODD COUPLE, where team members must select the two things that do not belong out of a list of five; and SIDESHOW, where one team member must move another team member like a puppet to act out words on the cards. There's a new way to win using the Turbo cards, too! I highly recommend this edition to upgrade Cranium fun.

Cranium Booster Box 1 Review

The designers clearly put their heads together for the new questions and it shows. We have all but stopped playing with the original cards because now we're actually getting stumped on the trivia cards and having more fun with the charades cards. NOTE: with the added difficulty the game becomes more challenging for kids. They may not find the booster pack as fun. Other items of interest: they've made the all-play ("club cranium") easier to see on the cards and important words in the description are now in a bolded font. Small touches, big improvement. Highly recommended.

(More customer reviews)I love board games, and even more, I love Simpsons board games. I got this one as a present for Christmas, and let me tell you, if I was younger, I would probably like it more.
the questions are on par with the style of trivia from Cranium, but this game is timed. I like to think of it as Cranium with a timer.
The point is that you get a minute long turn to try to complete as many tasks as possible. If you pass the task (A question or a mini-game), then you get to keep going until your timer runs out. In doing so, you collect little pieces, and the first one with all of the pieces wins.
So overall, it is cool I guess, and probably more fun for younger people, but I would rather play many other board games before this one.

Cranium Super Showdown Review

I've had the pleasure of playing Super Showdown several times in small groups of parents with their kids... and this Thanksgiving I played it with just adults and every time it's been a smash hit generating lots and lots of laughter
Apparently it's a lot like "Apples to Apples" which I've never played.
Basically, there's a contest at stake - like "who would best win a snowball fight" or "could stay the longest in a haunted house." First you select from a bunch of fictional characters and archetypes, such as Harry Potter, or A Grandma. Then you add a "Twist" like "After 1 month of practice" or "With a time machine." And then you all argue your case before one player who sits out who acts as the judge. You need to come up with reasons why, for example "Prince Charming with the ability to run faster than a speeding bullet" would beat "Dora The Explorer with a Shopping Cart" at a scavenger hunt.
What's great is that even though the situations and characters are kid-like, you can still make very reasonable, impassioned and hilarious arguments; the childish nature of the subjects just adds to the silliness.
If you've got smart verbal friends, hilarity will ensue! And kids will come up with surprising and silly reasons as well. The designation on the box says 8 and up, and that proved to be true. Also, there's an element in the game that lessens the competition a bit and allows/forces 2 people to wind up arguing for the same combo - this is a great aspect too; these unexpected alliances add to the fun factor and keep feelings from getting too hurt.
One tip - consider setting some parameters on the argument stage, or it could drag on.
GREAT GAME!!! GET IT!!!

(More customer reviews)This has been an incredibly fun game for our family - everyone from mom, dad (me), nephew (15), two daughters (10 and 8) and our son (4). You are dealt cards with different things, activities, colors, etc. on them, ranging from American Idol to the wilderness to college football to ice cream sundaes. You select the one or two that you think the person who is "it" (which alternates each turn) will like best and then that person rates the selections and points are awarded based on the rating (from best to least). The kids go nuts when they think they have one that is perfect and it really is a lot of fun to see how well you know each other and how everyone (especially the kids) different things. It also plays fast, so you can get in one quick game (which consists of a few rounds), or play several games in a relatively short amount of time. If you have kids that can't read yet, someone simply whispers the choices to them each turn. It is the best family game that we own and I give it a HUGE recommendation!

Cranium Zigity Tin Review

(More customer reviews)I got the free promotional copy of Zigity when I bought Balloon Lagoon (another great game). The box didn't look very impressive, so I didn't open it right away. What an oversight! Both my 4 1/2 YO son & my 13 YO daughter love it.
Zigity appears to be an educational cross between Uno and Rummy. The first player to fun out of cards wins. You get cards out of your hand by making "Sets" which can be words, numbers that add up to 11, matching instruments or a completed "puzzle". Making words is still a bit challenging for my 4 1/2 YO, but he can overcome that by making sets in other ways. And it didn't take that long for him to figure out how to add to 11.
The deck also contains action cards that allow you to force your opponents to draw cards, reverse the order of play or avoid drawing cards yourself.
The deck is well put together so that none of the cards dominate. The addition of the 3 piece "puzzle" and instrument matching option allow younger children to compete with parents and older siblings.
The only thing I didn't like about this game was the make of the cards. They are clear. Yes that's cool. And they are very durable which is nice. But the cards are slippery which makes them difficult to shuffle and hold on to.
This game still rates 5 stars. It is simple to learn, fun to play and requires both luck and strategy to win.

Scribblish is a ton of fun, especially if you can't draw! It's hilarious confusion and fun for everyone!
The whole point of the game is to try and scribble something like the ridiculous phrase on the card you start with ("I'm secretly a mermaid", or something like that). Then you pass your drawing, and get someone else's drawing and write a phrase for that (whatever it looks like, you just describe it). Pass again and this time, you are only allowed to see the last thing on the sheet (someone else's phrase for a drawing done by yet another person)and things are already getting silly!
By the time the sheet is full (about 7 turns) everthing is totally confused and everyone is laughing their heads off trying to figure out how their crazy phrase turned into some totally different drawing.
You score by guessing which crazy scribble came from your starting phrase and you get points for being funny!!!!
I love this game!!!!! I would recommend this game to anyone over about 8 years old, especially groups of 5 or more. Great for families, friends, etc.
It takes about 2 minutes to learn and is just totally fun! Not serious or competitive, just alot of laughs!
5 Stars!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's especially good for multiage groups and family gatherings--one of the few games where being older and sharper doesn't confer much advantage. Even kids who don't really read and write yet can play with adult help and have fun.
Another plus: We ran into a bit of a problem with a defective part and Cranium's customer service was absolutely first-rate in resolving it. Anyone who buys anything these days knows how rare that is!
