(More customer reviews)This product differs from what I found in the store because the loom is made of metal; those I found in the stores were plastic and I was told would break with use. When I was a little girl, I had the metal loom and made potholders for all my family members for gifts. I wanted my grandchildren to enjoy that same experience. Only a week after Christmas, I got my first new potholder! I am confident that the loom won't break and the children are learning about color and how combinations work together while creating something useful, making them proud.

(More customer reviews)Even though I am an adult I had never created the "famous childhood potholder." The loom and the hook you use to weave the loops in and out are made of sturdy metal, and the crochet hook is plastic. There are no sharp edges, so it's safe for kids. It was also GREAT to see a quality product made in the USA! When I ordered refill loops (you can order cotton or wool) the manufacturer's customer service people were very courteous. The loops are available in a variety of colors as well.
Highly recommended!

(More customer reviews)These loops are adequate but I cannot give them very high of a rating. They had lots of loose ends which would frequently snag causing some harsh words to be said over them. They seem somewhat expensive (to me) at about $2.50 per potholder (36 loops) for only average quality. The color selection was somewhat limited in the assorted bags. Additional colors are available in one-color-per-bag lots. Also the size and thickness varied from loop to loop. Overall, less quality than what I would like to work with.

Kids love making potholders, and these loom loops produce great results! The loops are made of 100% cotton (not synthetic fibers like others) and include a mix of appealing colors. Harrisville Designs a-Lotta Loops - Makes 10 Potholders Review

(More customer reviews)We've been making potholders at home and it seemed like we were always running out of the colors we wanted, so we ordered replacements from several different sources to see what worked best. Although these are not the easiest to use, they by far make the best finished product. This is a great big bag of loops with very vibrant colors. The colors are great -- teal, cobalt, lime green, kelly green, pink, red, reddish-purple, yellow, orange -- enough to make some beautiful combinations. Compared to the other loops we've used, these are very thick and less stretchy. Because they are bulkier, they are a little harder to work with. I haven't found any that don't fit, though. On the flip side, the finished potholder is larger and holds its shape better. I've found that the stretchier brands seem to have a lot of nylon, and it doesn't seem like they'd hold up as well to hot dishes. These loops are kind of scraggly, with loose threads hanging off of them, but when you weave them together the loose threads aren't really a problem.
Someone commented that her daughter wasn't able to weave the edges with these because they were less stretchy. My daughter hasn't been able to weave the edges with these either, but she's very, very proud of the finished product as it is larger, more vibrant, and more even in shape than the potholders made with the stretchier loops.
If you want something that's really easy to use, you might check for the loops made by klutz or others, as these might not be the best bet. If you want to make cool potholders, though, these are a good choice.
