I'm a 45 year old dad, who purchased this for my son, who is 7 and i purchased it with the thought of building and explaining it to my son who is intellegent, but a couple years younger than the age group it was intended for. I had as much fun with it as he did and highly recommend it for children from 5 to 16 and dads of any age.

(More customer reviews)I tried making my own motorcycles for my kids, then saw this set on Amazon (for pre-order back in Dec'08). When it arrived, i thought it was under their "Racers" line with pull-back motors, but these do not have those. However, they're built/designed really well and hold up jump after jump - plus they roll forever! They also look really cool. Buy a set today :-)

LEGO Racers: Grand Prix (8161) Review

(More customer reviews)This is a really cool Lego set. It comes with three actual race cars and a ton of little things to make it look more realistic. It takes hours to build, so it entertains for a long time that way, and with three cars, it makes for some really fun post-build play.
I'm very much not a fan of toys with multiple parts, however. Any toy that has more than one part to it will most likely become separated shortly. This is no exception. After a week or two, the stand, the TV monitors, and all the extra mini figures will be in pieces in the spare Legos box. However, the cars are still really fun, and, having a spare Legos box is half the fun of Legos. Highly recommended toy.

LEGO Racers Action Wheelie Review

(More customer reviews)I'm sure this would have been a great toy for the intended boy but I had to send it back because it was delivered to me completely smashed. The rest of the items in the box were fine, including the big box all the items came in...Which of course means they were placed in there ALREADY smashed. Very annoying!!!!!!! I had to take a trip to the post office to send it back!!! Next time I will go to a toy store.

LEGO Racers Extreme Wheelie Review

(More customer reviews)My 6 yr old assembled this himself and it works great on a hard surfaces (tables, linoleum, tile, wood, etc..). It does indeed pop a wheelie when you let it go. All the boys in the family ranging from kids to adults like playing with it. The only drawback is the normal one w/ legos; they fall apart when you decide to launch them off of a high surface or crash them into something at high speed. But clearly that's more an error w/ the users.

I don't think you can go wrong with a LEGO product. I felt that the LEGO brand would be free from recall because of toxic/lead paints. I want all children to have the safest toys possible.
