(More customer reviews)This was purchased for my 11 year old who enjoys mystery solving type activities. I like that this requires some reading and a little thinking. It does have a small amount of educational facts, but not to a great extent. The experiments are easy to do but don't hold much attention. My daughter liked the glow powder and the color separation using a water-based marker, but briefly. The basis of this set is to do these experiments just as the "detectives" did to solve the case. Like following a storyline. The memory wire did not work that well with hot top water...the water needed to be boiled to achieve any movement of the wire at all. This kit is best suited for a child who enjoys reading to solve problems. With this in mind, the chemistry components are a nice addition. This is not a good kit for those just looking to do experiments.
