(More customer reviews)My daughter brought this game home with her a few years ago after a semester abroad. I tried to find it in the states, but even on-line sources at that time were back ordered. If you have played the game Dutch Blitz, or other similar games played with face cards, you will recognize the rules of this game immediately. We played a lot of Dutch Blitz, until we were able to get our hands on this. Though the graphics on Dutch Blitz are a little bolder and easier to discern in this fast moving game, the advantage to Ligretto is the number of people you can involve. Where Dutch Blitz is limited to four players, Ligretto comes in three colored packs (red, blue and green), each containing four different colored sets of cards. This red box will allow four players. Want to add another 1-4 players? Buy the blue or green box. You can get all three and play up to 12 people. Can't imagine how crazy that would be, though I have all three decks just in case. We have never used more than 2 boxes at a time.
This game requires the ability to count, quickly scan a table full of cards, think fast, and move quickly. You can purposely slow down the pace to include younger players. We take this to extended family campouts and get a group playing on the picnic tables. It is pretty entertaining to watch, too, as the pace picks up and people get a bit frantic. Love it.
