(More customer reviews)My friends and I enjoy card games that have strategy and are also easy enough to converse while playing. This game has more to it than the usual rummy, and the cards are pretty too. My seven yr old grandson is able to play with us when reminded what the dragons, tools, and dragon eggs do to the regular rummy game. It also goes a bit faster than a regular 500pt. rummy game.
My ONLY criticism is that the deck suits (jewels!) only go up to number 8, and I think up to 12 would be better. The largest number of people who can play with the deck you get is four. Buy Two decks if you like to play with more than four. Also there are a couple of obscure spots in the rules. We realized that the Marsupial dragon not only makes any card wild, but that the wild card can act as a cross piece ie if the wild card is a three, it can be a 1-2-3 in a run and ALSO a 3-3-3 in a set, as the middle card.
We decided not to count the face value of the jewel cards, but to give them the one point value that the rules suggest so as not to lessen the sting of the dragon eggs.
I recommend this game highly for card players who like a pretty deck and a twist on a favorite standby.
