(More customer reviews)If you like to play Sudoku, then you need to buy this product. The box is about as thick as a regular deck of playing cards and is roughly 3.5 by 5 inches square. It is oh so easy to throw the box in a computer bag, backpack or purse. The games are printed on cardstock that is tough enough to withstand erasures. I like the fact that I can take one card out of the box, close the box, and then use the box as a hard surface to write on making it something I can play anywhere. And unlike books, you don't have to worry about having to bend the spine so you can write in all the boxes. The boxes are big enough to write in trial numbers without being huge.
So, don't delay, buy several on them today.

Easy to tell which numbers start with the puzzle and which ones you entered. Provides time-penalized hints in any cell. Pauseable and saves your game between (auto-off) power sessions. Most importantly, this device lets you make "pencil marks"! I have checked out at least a dozen products and I have yet to come across an electronic Sudoku that electronically lets me enter dots or Xs to indicate which numbers might (not) be in a cell. It makes me wonder if the people ordered to design and implement these games actually play Sudoku themselves. The closest I've seen let you enter multiple numbers in a cell and it blinks through them, which I find cumbersome and patience-trying. Sadly, this thing doesn't do electronic marks either, but their lower-cost solution involves a dry-erase pen that lets you make the marks right on the screen, on top of little numbers printed in each cell's background. Losing marks in travel is prevented by the recessed contours of the screen. Why not 5 stars? Just the fact that the marks aren't electronic, there's no backlight, and the shadows cast by the dry-erase marks can be a little disorienting. Otherwise, a well-done, fun, and addictive product!

Each player or team is given a gridded clear plastic tray and chooses a puzzle, which they fit under their tray. Then both players or teams race to complete their sudoku first, using number tiles that fit into the grid. Simple? Yes. Fun? Definitely!
The game comes with 100 puzzles that you can lock in to your grid, but we discovered pretty quickly that we could also play the game using puzzles from any number of the sudoku books that are laying around our house (we're big fans). How? Well, there are two sets of number tiles: one red, one blue. If you stick the blue number tiles on one player's grid as their "solid" numbers, and the reds on the other, and then switch colors, you'll always know which numbers are solid because they'll be the opposite color from the colors you're using.

Rubik's Sudoku Review

(More customer reviews)I have been wanted a non-electronic non-paper Sudoku game for some time. Rubik's Sudoku is a self contained single player game board. I can move it from room to room without the playing pieces moving from where I have placed them on the board. There is one extra piece for each number/color tile included. With the color coding it is easy to learn the strategy behind Sudoku. I was not picking it up very fast when I tried the paper versions. After I progress through the 100 puzzles included with this game I'll use the game board and pieces with the Sudoku magazine I have. For the cost I would recommend this over the more expensive wood versions. If cost is not an issue then you might go for one of the more durable all wood versions that Amazon has.

It has had no wierd functioning problems; when the buttons don't seem to do the pause or input , it is time to change the batteries! mine has worked very well and i have tried them all! i even refuse to use the other 3 kinds that i own. this one is perfect. i can use it at night, i can turn off the sound, and it has the biggest screen that i have seen which is nice when one is older. One review said that they did not like the fact that it was awkward trying to input all number options before one knew what the number was and altho i agree, that is just how it is with the electronic games, one gets used to it! i would much rather use this and not the books with the pencil and the light. this comes with its own light and stylus and it is easy to just grab it at night and play it till your eyes get bleary and then go to sleep.. mine worked fine after a couple years but the screen got a little scratched from abuse and i misplaced it... i can't get to sleep without this toy.! I had to but another one! Definately the best one that i have tried on the market.

The maker's clever use of color variations (rather than traditional numerical distinctions) makes it more accessible to those who can, at times, fall among the numerically "challenged," even as it provides a completely new challenge to advanced players who may be approaching complacent proficiency with the more traditional numerical version of the game. I was impressed (and surprised, given the price) by the beauty of the wooden board and the tasteful colors of the wooden spheres. Puzzle cards are used to create ranges of difficulty from easy to challenging to "really tough" and they are easy to use. Kudos to the creators of this delightful game, which is also a handsome coffee table accessory.

The pieces are easy to use and the color strips help identify other players. It would be nice if an extra set of numbers had been included in case you lose one. Our two younger boys even love to play the "easy" level. We're hooked on Suduko.

(More customer reviews)My daughter bought this with her own money and is very happy with the purchase! She has always loved puzzles and logic challenges, but had never done a sudoku-on-paper to completion (on her own, or with help). Yesterday when she received this Sudoku puzzle game, she did one right away (independently), and says she finds these "much easier" (and more engaging) than those on paper. (I think that the large, easy-to-read tiles make it "easier" as well as the hands-on quality which make it both a kinesthetic and visual task.) The only complaints I have are that the tape used in packaging left a few sticky places on the underside, and there are no replacement tiles (should you loose one); it comes with the exact amount needed to fill the board. Of course, having the exact amount and no extras, also helps her see which ones still need to be "used" in the puzzle as she goes along, so this may be a help in it seeming "easier," as well. Although the box says, "the go everywhere game," I would not consider it suitable for travel, because if you place the board on too much of a slant the tiles slide out of place. This is not a problem for us, as we intended to use it at home. It has a handy storage compartment underneath and clear plastic cover to help protect a puzzle in progress. In short, we are pleased with the purchase and find it very satisfying.
