If you want the WiFi, you need to search for Erector Spykee Spy Robot which presently sells for over $245. This one doesn't have all the bells and whistles the WiFi does, but does offer a substantial savings over its counterpart and is fun for the entire family.

Erector Spykee Mini Vox Review

(More customer reviews)This was a Christmas gift for my 9 year old son. We built the robot together, taking about 1 hour. The instructions were a little challenging. My son was more than willing to plunge in and probably would have finished in well under an hour had I not insisted on trying to figure out the assembly instructions. Building the robot with my son was overall a 5 star experience. Fun with minimal challenge. Once assembled, the robot was an instant hit with my 9 and 6 year old boys. I was impressed with the response to voice command. You do have to speak directly at the front of the robot. First you state his name and watch for 2 LEDs to light up. That's how the robot confirms he is listening (voice is male with a hint of Buzz Lightyear thrown in) and then you give one of 7 or 8 commands. This probably sounds like a clumsy process but once my son figured out to speak to the front of the robot in a clear voice, he was able to get the robot to react and within 2 to 3 seconds he could have Mini Vox dancing or turning left or right, moving forward or back. My 6 year old watched all of this with his mouth hanging open and after several minutes of play, finally said to the robot "you're COOL man!!!" Bottom line, a fun toy with a touch of education value in the building process. My boys are already planning how to incorporate Mini Vox into their Star Wars universe. Assembly is probably best for an 8 year old or older unless an adult will be assisting. Not just a boy toy! My 8 year old daughter was very impressed and had it not been for my boys whisking Mini Vox off to their room, she would have enjoyed playing with it too. Note - 3 AAA batteries required, NOT included.

The Price has come down a lot and I think its priced right now.
Pros: Price is right (its come down a lot since it was first released)
This robot has over 90 minutes of stories, jokes and quips so you won't grow bored of it as quickly
Nice remote, can drive it and easy to learn controls
Good mobility and you can turn IR detection on or off
Arms move
Torso moves
head moves
Great expressions
Is funny if you like dumb jokes ( I do:)
Has an SD card for future expansion
Can be used to tell the time or be an alarm clock. Can remember your B-day and Anniversary
Durable
Can be plugged in to preserve batteries
CONS:
Leaves you wanting more
Only the default personalities have been released.
I've seen a hack that will let you load your own content from an SD card but its not supported
Hands can't pick things up.
Takes a lot of batteries (not rechargeable)
My 5 year old doesn't like it. I do:)
Conclusion:
Nice robot, several features and some good content but after spending some time with it you will grow bored and it will become an expensive alarm clock. Really needs wifi to update content, respond to voice commands etc. If you like robots you'll like this one I just can't wait for an improved version.

WowWee Tribot Talking Companion Review

(More customer reviews)Of all the WowWee robots, I think Tribot is more fun than the Robosapien and far, far beyond WowWee Robotics RoboPanda. After being disappointed by Robopanda, we were really excited to see how Tribot would build off that failure.
Tribot does not look as human as WowWee Robosapien with Mini Robo - Silver, but it moves better, quicker, and more efficiently. The three-wheel configuration works great!! The biggest innovation is the tilt-sensitive remote control combined with a very intuitive remote which makes it much simpler to operate than Robosapien.
Like the RoboPanda, the sarcastic dialogue might get tiresome, but its not as immediately annoying. Still, there is something familiar and friendly with Robosapien's grunts. I wish Tribot had two modes to allow users to choose coherent or incoherent dialogue!! Uh-huh!!
