It will be highly prized some years down the road as it gains value through the years. This model arrived in a shorter time than expected and was well packaged and in excellent condition. Scamper is well painted and he can even stand alone. He comes with a beautiful box explaining his accomplishments so he can be displayed in or out of box. This Breyer is well worth your money! You get a background, story, catolog, barrel, and the horse for a good price.

Seattle Slew Review

The Seattle Slew model is great not only because of his neck thing of roses and his tall dark and handsome shape but because he was a TRIPLE CROWN WINNER! He's just an awsome model and would be a great addition to your collection. The only complaints I can think of are that you have to be very delicate with the flower thing or the flowers start falling off and Seattle Slew's back left leg bends in a little bit which prevents him from standing on carpet evan though he can stand on a hard evan surface. (More customer reviews)Using the ever-popular "San Domingo" mold, Breyer offers this gorgeous paint. With the wonderful hand painted details, this lovely boy is sure to dress up any collector's shelf.
Sculpted in 1978 by Chris Hess, this mold has been popular with Breyer collectors for 25 years. With his flashy new paint job, he's sure to make an appearance at many collector shows. His calm walking pose makes him a good choice for beginning showers interested in performance classes.
Recommended for ages 8 and up, he's sure to find his way to Barbie's pasture, as well as the show ring. It is important to remember, however, that because he is hand painted he is likely to suffer a few "rubs" and scratches in the hands of smaller collectors. While his legs are a bit thicker than the smaller sized models, they will snap with enough pressure.
For a great gift idea, wrap him up with a book from the Thoroughbred or Saddle Club series.

Some poses, such as this one, make it hard to stand the horse up unsupported unless the surface is absolutely flat.

The Appaloosa descends from the spotted horses developed in the 1800s by the Nez Perce Indians, who selectively bred them to be hardy and agile for hunting and war. Today, those same qualities have helped Appaloosas succeed in many disciplines, such as jumping, dressage, racing, reining and roping. This Seattle Slew mold was also used on Afleet Alex and did not represent him well. Now I see they are using the Smarty Jones mold on the new Secretariat. Secretariat needs a new one of kind mold also.

The picture does not depict that at all but when I ordered, I kept in mind that it was indeed a purple blanket and not greenish. I was, in fact, disappointed that it was purportedly purple so I was very happy to see for myself that it is indeed not purple but greenish as it looks in the picture. :) It looks EXACTLY as it does in the picture. I don't know how well it holds up or ease of use or anything yet as it is a gift for Christmas. So if I hear how it performs I will update my review. Very pleased with this item so far, though.

Has the usual construction defects that I've come to expect in these sorts of Breyer accessories: round poles are frequently bowed, holes in standards for round poles are misaligned, etc. In spite of this they look great with my horses "jumping" over them!

The model looks a lot like the real horses. Their story is extremely unique. Its amazing how a person could care enough to buy a very sick mare with a perfect heart shape on her forehead and bring her back to health, then the mare to give birth to a healthy colt with an arrow shaped marking on his hindquarters. Its a miracle! I reccomend all horse lovers to buy this set. The models are very durable and can go through a lot of wear.

Fox Valley Oliver, an 18 h. Shire, excels in halter and driving competitions as well as in the sport of combined driving. In addition to earning several reserve championships in the U.S. and Canada, he was named Senior Champion Stallion at the Ohio State Fair in 2003. The model makes him look a bit fat. He is more of somthing to look at, rather then play with. If you have a Black Stallion/ Island Stallion loving child, the toy is fine, but the parent of a regular horse crazy kid might consider somthing that one can actually put a bridle on.
