(More customer reviews)I had this puzzle as a teenager, and was glad to finally track it down on Amazon so I could play with it again, and introduce it to my two kids. We all love it.
One of the amazing things about this puzzle is how you develop muscle memory once you solve it a few times. Yes, it true: It is a "forced move puzzle", meaning that if you pay attention, you will be forced to make the next correct move (other than simply reversing your previous move), but that really doesn't diminish the enjoyment. After a while, your fingers practically work by themselves -- much faster than your brain can "think" what the next move is. And, in this way, it kind of becomes pretty addictive. Plus the puzzle is very well made -- all the sliders operate extremely smoothly, with very little friction, so it's possible to build up a lot of speed if you want to.
For the first week we had this, both of my daughters couldn't keep their hands off of it. And, now that we've had it for a few weeks, they still return to it now and then. Very well worth the modest price.
The only suggestion I have is for the manufacturer to produce the puzzle in multiple colors. There are 8 sliders, and I think it would be cool looking if they came in 8 different colors, all on a black base. This would also aid in knowing which was "slider 1" , "slider 2" and so on. Right now, there are tiny numbers (1-8) atop each slider -- really too small to read, though you don't really need them. Mulit-colored would add a lot of visual appeal.
Great puzzle for all ages, starting at around age eight, I'd say, but middle schoolers, high schoolers and older folks will enjoy it, too.
