(More customer reviews)My nearly 5 year old got this for Christmas and he enjoyed playing it. The difference between the regular version and the deluxe version is the Sherlock playing piece that you move around the circle. He liked having Sherlock to move around and I think it helps little ones keep track of which card they have to remember/guess, but it is not necessary to have one to play the game. This is a memory game. Basically you put the cards in a circle face up (less cards to make the game easier, and more cards to make the game harder) and take time to memorize their location then turn them over. One player places Sherlock by a card and the other player has to say what is under the card. If they are correct, the card is flipped picture up. On the card is also a number and an arrow which tells you which way to move and how many cards over to move. The same player continues guessing until either they hit a card which is already face up (in which case they win that card and it is replaced with a new one, ending their turn), or they guess wrong and the other player starts their turn. The first player to collect 6 cards wins, but you can shorten the game by having a lower number of cards to win. I liked that it was easy to play, easy to understand, and could easily be adjusted to the skill, age, or attention span of the child who was playing. I also liked that the cards were really thick and sturdy, much thicker than the cards in a deck of cards.
