(More customer reviews)My scientifically/technologically minded 11-year-old son and I enjoyed putting the clock together. The level of difficulty has, in my opinion, been understated by previous analysts. This project seems most suitable for children of at least 12 years of age. The other problem we had was with the clockwork itself: The hands stick, so the sweeping motion cannot occur. The talking mechanism and its associated internal timekeeping mechanism work fine, and the alarm is functional.

My daughter was having trouble with time, because she was not able to understand what the clock was reading when the "small hand" was past the hour number (or in between hours). Pretend clocks where you move the hands to where you want them were of little use for this problem, as they do not show the actual hour hand movement. I was considering a "geared" clock to help her with this issue, and then found this tiger clock. Both my kids 4 and 6 love this clock. This clock has three different levels, so as your child learns more about the clock, he/she can still be challenged by this toy. My only complaint is that the tiger's paw covers more than just one minute number. I have trained my daughter to look at the tiger's "center toe" to see what number he is poining to. Minor issue, but that is my only complaint with this educational toy.
