This is a much superior product as the pieces stay assembled and functions as the real word you can apply lateral stress and realize the same failure you might find in a real world structure . This is for an advanced nine year old or adult involvement is necessary the simpler model sets are better to introduce a child to K-nex as the plans are sight driven . see replicate. some pieces hard to snap together is why they hold together so well.

(More customer reviews)The circut The circuit board is made of thin cheap cardboard. After a few experiments it tears. Also one of our parts failed to work so I emailed their support address . They never emailed me back.They have one experiment where you get to make a vibrating bug. When I was building it the parts did not hold up. The bugs body was made of cheap paper that does not hold up to its construction as it folds and does not support its paperclip legs. I bought this for my son but it just was a frustrating experience. It is just a box of junk. If the circut board was made of plastic or strong cardboard and if the parts were more durible it would be a great learning tool.

(More customer reviews)I just played with this (Snap Circuits Junior) for the first time and came looking to buy one for my kids.
In response to the person who said the manuals have errors, see the web site http://www.snapcircuits.net/ (and also http://www.elenco.com/ as mentioned below.) In particular there is a page that gives corrections to all the manuals: http://www.snapcircuits.net/updates.doc .
Another concern I had is which kit to buy: Junior, Pro, etc.? On the snapcircuits web site they have a price list for replacement parts and upgrade kits. For the difference in price between the kits you can upgrade from one to the next so this takes some of the worry about of the purchase (for me at least). http://www.snapcircuits.net/scparts.pdf
