(More customer reviews)This toy is not junk. I wrote this review because I have had it in the past, and not as bad as the other review makes it sound.
This is a very cool toy because it's the raising aspects of any other v-pet toy, plus the fighting, mini-games, etc that the Digivices are known for. The other review mentions how the device wouldn't read the "DNA" of their grandchildren. That is a complete user error. The way the device reads is by compressing the metal contacts on top of the device in different combinations. They are basically glorified buttons. I doubt that 4 of 4 devices would come with errors. It's a good balance of game and pet raising, and the BEST part is that you can PAUSE it! Need to leave the game behind at work or school? Pause it and leave knowing you won't come home to a filthy, sick Digimon!

(More customer reviews)To start things off, I absolutely love digimon, so naturally, I wanted to snatch this up before it becomes extremely expensive like the older digivices. Initial setup took me a few minutes to figure out, but once it was up and running, I loved it immediately. It's a bit different from the previous digivices, in that it is much more interactive, and more can be done with your digimon. After you pick a digimon partner, you have to train, feed, and clean up after it; but you can also play mini games and fight your digimon to earn points to buy it food and other items which can use for battle or simply play with. Basically it's like a Tomagotchi, but you are able to do much more, and I think it is way more fun. As your digimon gets stronger, it is able to digivolve, but the great thing is (unlike the older digivices), it changes back to its rookie stage once a battle is over. Personally, I love this product, and even if your child knows little or nothing about digimon, I think they'll have a ton of fun with this regardless. One thing though, it says on the packaging "for ages 4 and up." I don't think a four year old would be able to figure this game out easily. Probably a better age would be more along the lines of eight, maybe even nine and above. Hope you enjoy this product as much as I did! Get them before they become collectors items!
