(More customer reviews)It took me a minute to identify just what bothers me about this skeleton, but here it is: the ribs don't angle down from posterior to anterior. As a result he looks like he's eternally holding in a huge, exaggerated breath and his clavicles are up under his chin. Also many of the bones do not move in anatomically correct ways because of the way the joints are put together.
So not the best for understanding joint function or other relationships between bones or landmarks as needed for radiographic positioning. On the other hand, all the bones and landmarks are represented. It's perfect for examining the bones individually. This skeleton is also numbered and came with a sheet to help the student learn the names of the bones. So the bottom line is, if you are looking for an anatomic model this is the guy for you. If you need to study the physiology or interrelationships within the skeleton you may need something else - but you will certainly pay more. This is a compromise between cost and accuracy.
I have submitted some images that will hopefully provide more detail than the amazon photo. I included the cat for size comparison - I think this skeleton is the perfect size, he wasn't as big as I thought he'd be based on the measurements.
