(More customer reviews)Athearn's RTR passenger cars make a good train on a 4x8 layout. The cars look good in short or long trains. A coach is also called a "chair" car. One can use many of this type of car in a single train. In general this car rolls nicely and couples easily on straight track. The car is fairly durable for a toy of this type, but still can't be slammed around.
Athearn has designed these cars to be shorter than the real ones so that they can negotiate the 18" radius curves commonly used in train sets and on 4x8 layouts. In model railroad circles these are called "shorties", but most people won't know the difference. If one wants a real scale full length diner, and has large enough curves to run them on (24" radius or greater) then look to Walther's or Branchline brand.
The looks of the car can be improved by adding interior details. The windows are fairly large and as they come from the factory one can see the inside is just empty.
