First the negatives: the quality control is not great - one of the controllers does not keep the car moving when the button is pressed, but I am going to take it apart and improve the contacts. But this would be awful for someone who wasn't into fixing things like that. Also a negative is the quality of the zipper to close the bag. It broke apart the third time it was moved! It is the worst zipper thing (the part that moves and puts the zipper together or apart) I have ever seen. But the toy is so nifty that I'm willing to look past that too, and will sew on velcro or something. Last negative - the track really needs to be on a hard surface, not the padded soft surface provided by the open case.
Now for the positives: it is an absolute riot to play with. It's also a way to get a slot car set capable of lane changes that your kid can play with without shelling out $400 or so. My girlfrield's two year old can operate it. Everyone is amazed when the little cars change lanes. It's silly, I know, but it is enchanting to play with. Hopefully the flaws in my set were random, because this is the kind of toy that would be remembered for a lifetime.
