(More customer reviews)I bought this for my nine-year-old daughter as a Christmas gift. She loves do do crafts, and prefers to do them independently, with very little adult help. She created the butterflies herself with me only showing her the first one, then we assembled it together.
I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the butterflies look when they're lit up and she's thrilled at the way they look in her room. Initially I was worried about them being battery-operated, but now I'm glad that I don't have to worry about her plugging and unplugging from a wall outlet, and thus far the batteries have held up well (I did warn her that she must remember to turn them off and she's been good about it).
As for durability, they would not be at all durable if a child were "playing with" them... however, since they're a decoration which we set up and doesn't really get touched from there on, I find them to be durable enough, especially given the price.
Overall, this was a great buy and I'm keeping an eye out for them to be on sale so we can stock up for friends' birthday party gifts.
