My 8 year old enjoyed putting it together with me, and learned about reading installation instructions using the drawings. That said there was some confusion, on my part, when purchased in that they indicated the kit would also make cars. The same parts are used so you get the Windturbine OR cars. Also there should be no expectation that you could actually charge a battery (to run a electric car) from the turbine (powered by a fan). It's all the turbine can do to light a LED, however it does prove it works. The kit is a good tool to teach gear ratio's and mechanical assembly, as well as how the wind can produce electricity. I'd strongly recommend it.
