My main objection to this toy is that there are so many different parts that are just slightly different that it is impossible to build anything intuitively. There are 40 different types of pieces in this set, only one or two of some types. There is no basic unit the way there is with legos. You can't use "two of these" to make "one of these". The angled pieces come in 75o, 105o, and 135o and there are only a couple of one of them. I gotta say, I'd appreciate the simplicity of some 90o and 45o ones. Despite the appearance of being a flexible, creative building toy, it cannot easily be used in any way other than step by step following of instructions. Then, of course, your creation must be dismantled in order to build the next thing because the first has used the only piece AM15686GT or whatever.
We do like the light up pieces which can be eyes or headlights depending on what you build. I am tempted to glue the eyes onto tinker toys and to get rid of the rest of the set. Now to decide if drinking will make helping my son build the next thing better or worse...
